Good to see some up to date pics on the thread again. Out of interest, how far into Europe do you run to?
Oi Oi stranger… How’s it going Mark…? Long long time fella!
Thanks Tone, 4 great pics…the Italian side doesn’t seem to have changed much, is the customs offices still there ? And the shot of Cluse, is that a customs area? Didn’t have that in the old days…straight up and through the pipe…Did you do customs and seals on the Blanc on the Italian side, or further down in Aosta…? I’m guessing the routes not changed much, but maybe the customs proccedures have…

Hi Fergie I thought Cluses was just a gravel park with a wooden shed in the middle, French customs post or have I gone too far and need to see a head man, Buzzer.
Hi Dave, it’s been 15 years since I did my last trip over the water mate,
which incidentally was to Greece the easy way. Ferry from Venice that
arrived in Patras 42 hours later after calling at Corfu and Igonametsa ( spelling ? )
Anyway Dave…Italian customs were done in Aosta going in and when leaving straight
To Cluses for customs there. Though in earlier years we had to stop at cabin at the top.
I remember in the late 70’s early 80’s when entering Italy we had to do the tankshine
Which normally involved a back hander, but that all finished years ago.
The tankshine that is, not the backhanders.
Buzzer…the one you,re thinking of was the one on the way back from Cenis back in the day.
We had to stop there on the way back into France.
If I remember rightly that was a ten Francer…
A couple more pics of a Davies142 sorry not the best quality!!!
Regards Pat

Nice to meet you but I think you have me confused with someone else!
Picture quality down to my cheap camera Pat.
Greatmate…hi Nat, how you doing mate. About time you got on here.
Bullit is not London Mark…you,re not the first one to make that mistake.
Bullit…as no one else has answered your question, I,ll try and help you although
it’s been a long time time since I drove for Davies.
Back in the day we did all the usual euro countries including France Italy Spain Portugal etc etc
The furthest we ventured back then was Greece and Bosnia.
Since I left though, I know they,ve done Poland and also Denmark which I never did.
Today I believe the bulk of their work is ships stores to the Mediterranean ports as well as a bit
of Spain and Italy still.
Hope this helps, though Andrew can confirm or deny what I,ve told you.
Hi all as Mappo said E42 OAD was a super motor also another I bought the same day F725 RDF both from Peter Gilder, they were actually the last of the 142 series and had 143 gear sticks as I recall. They came from Germany as a haulage man there bought a group of 30 or so of the last 142’s but he was not allowed to sell them unless they were used which he did for a couple of months so they were virtually new when we had them. We had very little trouble with the V8’s all the time we ran them and they were always on top of the job and the drivers loved them, especially Reader who had to use every gear in the box even when MT spose he liked the sound of the eminox, cheers Buzzer.
Hello Mappo, and cheers for the info. Sounds like a great job! I guess Davies are one of the few old school companies where it is still dead mans shoes to get in there?
I spent a couple of years out in Bosnia during the Balkans wars, 92-94, and when I was there we used to get supply runs from Jannerite (JSL). Most used to go and tip in Split but a few used to run further south to where we were based on the Croat / Bosnian border.
Hi All, I went to see one of the old Davies drivers today with Tony Mapson, with the model I have just completed Paul Nichols was surprised to see the old DJO666Y, I think it made his day !! he’s gonna do some miles tonight !!!
I’ve done more Davies trucks than anything else, time for something Middle East next me thinks !!
Regards Jimmer …
What a great model! Well its a new page so up with those 143ers

Good Morning Everyone!I appreciate nothing to do with lorries today but thank you to take the time just to read the below. My brother Steve is taking part in this year’s 2014 London Marathon.
Four weeks until marathon day and Steve needs to raise just over another £2,000 to hit the £5,000 target he promised Tommy’s he would raise for his London Marathon place. Please help him out if you are able to. Thanks so much if you’ve donated already. He has received overwhelming support from family, friends, business colleagues, football coaches, players, multinationals, the list goes on! Your money will make a real difference to ensuring families don’t go through the pain of stillbirth, miscarriage and premature birth that his family did with their little baby boy Adam. Training going really well, an intense few weeks ahead with lots of 20 mile runs. The pain his body is going through disappears with the terrific support he has had. Please make it all worthwhile! ‪#‎runningforadam
His link if you can donate is uk.virginmoneygiving.com/runningforadam
Thank you all for your outstanding support. Richard - I was going to do a sponsored truck wash but someone has jammed the machine in Lorraine’s with iffy tokens
Count me in Hori and ■■■■■■… 2 quid a mile sounds like a fair rate for the job. Good luck!!
