Dirty Dan:
That is stuning! I really really like your old livery!

Reg Danne

Hi again Danne every one likes the two tone blue and red chassis livery and I personally think the old scania’s were way ahead with that square cab with two good bunks, plus with nice added features and not overdone looks superb.
If I ever do up an old motor think it will be in that colour scheme cheers Buzzer.

Here you are Buzzer and Dirty Dan

And a few more

Buzzer:
This truck has a Hampshire registration number AAA but does any one know where this is or who ran the truck Buzzer

Hi John,

It’s a Thornycroft Handy owned from new by a coal company in Liss, Hassell’s, I think it was then preserved and is in the Thornycroft Museum in Basingstoke where the pic was taken.

Mappo should know as he was working “Down Pit” at the time :unamused:

Regards
Richard

Dunno where you got that info Richard, I was Fergies apprentice about that time.

He was just coming up to retirement then. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Buzzer:
HI DD had a look in the album and found this 141, it was an ex Sparks motor and I bought it from Unit Commercials in Salisbury. It was one of the cleanest trucks I ever got second hand and of course we gave it the treatment with Eminox stacks etc. That was a new trailer picked up in Luneville in France and the shot was taken in Munich after loading, Mappo has got some pics of ARM —T one of two from Malcomb Harrison ex Watt’s of Carlisle, cheers Buzzer

Evening Gentlemen, Buzzer, how are you? Met a chap with a beautiful pair of matched Greys in the lane today, just a cart behind, but beautiful horses…had them on , (to my unexperienced eye), far too tight a rein…but who am I to criticise…but I could have given that pair a good home!

Did you have many deals with my good friend Malcolm? Incredible man…trusted his men…who ripped him off in a big way…picked himself up, and now is busy selling off the cream of the UK industry, and making serious money from it! And B…y good luck to him, I rate him as a friend, and as a businessman…

Just a little tale…in the 90s we learned that a large “east coast” fleet was “on the brink”, and receivers were to be appointed…So off we went, (at a rapid rate of knots…cheque books in hand, (pockets))…Screaming along…(as fast as Malcolms 300 D Mercedes would travel), somewhere among those eastern flat lands…along roads built for the horse and cart we came to that rare occourance…a corner…but a corner with an obstruction…a Goodway Scania and box… negotiating said corner, …but on our side of the road…

Not unusual, but given that Malcolm and I were both engaged in mobile telephone calls…(endeavouring to sell the vehicles of the fleet that we had not yet purchased)…and the spare telephone on the centre console was ringing as well, Malcolm left the road…and proceeded across well cultivated, high grade agricultural land at a similar pace to that we were enjoying on the sealed tarmac road!

Having circumnavigated the corner…(and Scania), and proceeded at an undiminished pace throughout our “detour”, we rejoined the carriageway…and continued our journey, without further comment!..Only later, when Malcolms Mercedes was presented for service…and Draytons “man” enquired what had happened to remove the aerodynamic fairing from under the car, did we realise that it was an unexpected harvest for some corporate farmer!!!

And, yes , we did buy the fleet, and sell it as well!!!

Malcolm Harrison, great man, great fun, great friend…and he started with nothing as well!!

Cheerio for now…found another bottle of the 83 Bollinger…I shall toast you all!

You cheeky old ■■■■■■■ Mappo… :open_mouth: :unamused:

Rather apt that this thread is on page 141

Hi WAAP this 141 ex Watts of Carlisle was amazing it would excelerate up hill with 22 tons on its back the power was awesome, don’t think it was too fuel efficient but diesel was cheaper back then so was not so much an issue as today, wish I had it today as they all gone up in value cheers Buzzer.
PS. these pics been on before we only recapping as we are on page 141 as a tribute to the thread.

Hmmm Dave O’Shea (Dos) had dealings with Malcom Harrison. Dos bought an F12 Intercooler in JPS colours from Harrison, ex Italian motor. It was confiscated off Dos in Modena area by the Carabinieri. They gave him 5 mins to get his gear out. The truck was still on finance in Italy when sold to Harrison. It took forever for Dos to get it sorted and compensated.

As you are still on page 141 another two tone blue fleet that always looked good!
