Congratulations Richard you have risen from the challenge, and if my memory serves me right you had to rise smartish of one of them old fashion loo’s elsan you would suffer spash back which is not pleasant when it might not be yours coming back at you at a great rate of knots. It was my job as a nipper to dissect the used news papers into uniform size for the use in these contraptions, I remember if there happened to be a picture of Harold Wilson that had to be kept whole and was only to be used by my father, can’t think why that was. Any way this has been a moving experience in more ways than one and think you should take note of the caption below, cheers Buzzer.

It’s a Thornycroft Handy owned from new by a coal company in Liss, Hassell’s, I think it was then preserved and is in the Thornycroft Museum in Basingstoke where the pic was taken.
Mappo should know as he was working “Down Pit” at the time

HI DD had a look in the album and found this 141, it was an ex Sparks motor and I bought it from Unit Commercials in Salisbury. It was one of the cleanest trucks I ever got second hand and of course we gave it the treatment with Eminox stacks etc. That was a new trailer picked up in Luneville in France and the shot was taken in Munich after loading, Mappo has got some pics of ARM —T one of two from Malcomb Harrison ex Watt’s of Carlisle, cheers Buzzer
