Hello Jeremy hope you are well.

Yes long time ago now, we moved in 1st week of sept 1993. LTS used to have an old diesel tank on the right. My first job was to knock down the breeze block wall around it and shovel all the oily sludge into plastic coal bags supplied by Denny Belbin. Dad had a palisade fence put up but there was a delay with the actual gate being delivered so we borrowed one of Harry Phillips box trailers and parked it across the gap every night!

The pic posted was in actual fact a newer portacabin installed around 1996. Can remember when the original LTS one was taken down, it just fell in half. Have got some pics somewhere when we moved in, will try and post them soon. I walk past it on the way to watch Saints every home game, seems funny but it looks so much smaller than it did then.Talking of LTS, did you know a driver called Mike Munro? Think he did relief there.

I had a nice 20min chat with one of your drivers today at Milton Keynes, he had white/grey hair and glasses, i think (dont quote me) he was driving V66, he was a really nice bloke.

Hi Kindle there all old and white haired (next stage after grey) and where glasses on DIT this is quite normal, they play bingo at Tracy Island if there are more than four in at once and we cook mince and mash cos none of them have any teeth left, cheers Buzzer.

Haha, nice one Buzzer!

I’ll have another one of those if your getting them in, another ex driver living in France, cheers Buzzer

Obviously no one knows the man above, liked his curry but then his old man was in the quarter masters stores in India and they taught him the trade secrets well and he passed it on to his son, Buzzer.

Hi John

It is of course Mick Long

Regards Pat

I had one of Mickys currys in Murcia just after I started on for you. There were about 6 of us so twas a big pot,the leftovers included his socks, which he threw over the security dogs wall, boy I felt sorry go those dogs, another trip to remember. :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Longo turned up to collect his running money one night at the old house we lived in at the time, with him he had the premade curry sauce transported in a clear plastic bag. He was shipping out with a load of prawns from Codford so there was not much double guessing as to what ingredients would be added to the sauce later.
To be honest it looked like a bag of diarrhoea and not very appetizing at all, and how it did not split is a wonder but im’e sure there were some greatfull recipients down the autoroute some where cheers Buzzer.

Happy days eh …

Joe C .

Hi Joe C when I first started pulling SCAC trailers out of Pompy docks in the early 80’s it was a gravel compound at the top with just a slipway down to the key, it could only hold about 25 trailers total and maybe a further dozen on the quay. Then they did the first extension and loads and loads of steel pipes came from France which were used for piling then filled with concrete, then later they did the big fill in at the top where the coal ships used to empty out, think it was Corrals ran that outfit and now it is huge to what it was all those years ago. Further expansion came later at the bottom end then it started to get really busy, was always better road connection wise to Southampton and that’s what spelt the end, Stena Sealink being the last to operate out of Soton, cheers Buzzer
