mappo:
Nice one Charlie. Very funny.

I must confess that I did indeed spend many happy years working for J D
especially during the early years of two tone blue…When the office was in
the kitchen…Very handy when shipping in on a night crossing.
Still to this day never had a breakfast as good as Jill the boss used to make.

I confess that I was I suppose a bit of a poser in those days John, but the two tone blues
did look the business.
I have to say though that my posing days have long long gone.
Only one year, two months and 25 days to go…not that I,m counting. :unamused: :unamused:

One year two months and 25 days !! Don’t blink Tony you’ll miss it !!! :unamused:

R Jimmer ( 6 years 2 months 5 days ! I always had the slow motors ! )

Hi Mike, all well with the new skodas and we are already MOT’ing some so they are spread out through the year as it is a pain trying to get a booking nowadays. Drivers are luvving the new motors, they are getting used to them now. There is an article in this weeks Commercial Motor if you get a chance to get a copy, cheers Buzzer.

acceptme the volvo used to be based in bishops waltham, i was based there for ready power and i’am sure i used to park next to her. sounded sweet when she fired up in the morning and the gentleman in charge of her was a true gent. im sure pat will know if im right?

Hi Balders, I to had the pleasure of doing my first trip to Francee with Scory P and Jim Baily with the handle bar moustash ,came from Warminster. The pair got me ■■■■■■ on café calva’s we tipped rubber in Amiens then loaded apples in Angers, as you say I too had a Mandator non sleeper.
As for the farm just done five pigs, got 400lb of sausages in the freezer and the cattle are off to market on Friday. Have not touched the garden yet as we have officially had the wettest January on record and there is no sign of it abating in February.
We do get the odd day that is brighter and I go out with the horses, five together nowadays.
As for the Boss she is reasonable fettle considering the abuse she gets from me, she moans at me but she carries on as I think she realizes she is on a good thing at the end of the day, good to here from you any way keep in touch, cheers Buzzer .

One time , on route to Lisbon circa 78 maybe… I remember stopping at Miguel’s and me and Jim singing Daylight come and I wanna go home , downstairs in that stinking toilet… With all the echos and that horrible damp smell that all will remember… We then one hitted to Lisbon next day . Never got signed up on Britains got talent though… Happy Days …

Golden oldie in the layby outside my old house, Buzzer.

Hi everyone Rocky here, just caught up with 21st century

Regards Steve

Hi all,

I have not eaten today because I used my £2.80 meal allowance that Angie gives me every day to purchase a copy of Commercial Motor, if Mappo had not given up his paper round he would have doubtless sold me one for 50p, and the pages would have been stuck together , anyway I was driving through Four Marks and spotted a paper shop, pulled up jumped out of my 1978 Magirus 232 only to be harassed by a Big Issue salesman trying to relieve me of my cash,he reminded me of a chap who drove for STS transport but I’m sure I was mistaken,it was the bottle of Frizzante he was drinking from that led me to this conclusion. I ignored him and his shouts of “Do you want a Plus” and went in and having parted with Angie’s hard earned cash, I grabbed the magazine and quickly thumbed through it finding the article.
A wonderful story about a family business that is doing really well in these hard times and long may they continue,a credit to all the family’s hard work over the years even more so having employed the likes of Winky, Mappo, and some bloke called Rocky in the past :unamused: It was such a shame that Horry wasn’t even mentioned in the article, only his brother Steven and some bloke called James !! I wonder where that little lad who used to wash the trucks off in Lorraines is these days ? :open_mouth:

Well done all at Davies International

Regards
Richard

Any chance that the aforementioned article could be scanned and put on here
cos as I,m getting closer by the day to being a pensioner, I can’t afford
to buy a copy. :unamused: :unamused:

Richard

Richard.Im surprised you failed to recognise me even though Ive lost four and a half stone. The frizzante was only my second bottle of the day.( I`m trying to cut down ) I managed to get a copy and I was extremely impressed with the article.Someone out there is doing it right!Does this mean that DIT will be sponsoring the August Thrash. If so I might get up a charabang Regards Charlie

Welcome Steve “Rocky” Cherrett! 99% of us are still here!

Seems to me that you Charlie with your sponsor the August bash idea and Gazzer with the Davies calendar theme are hell bent on destroying the very fabric of all our hard endeavours to be a success at DIT. Let me tell you the company has enough on its plate keeping me in the manor to which I have become accustomed to, so less of these frivolous ideas. I think you should turn to Scatter Cash for financial support, after all said and done he has fled to Spain to avoid the tax man so should be well placed to provide a few Euro’s especially as he is renown for his generosity .
Welcome aboard Rocky, every time I hear your name all I can think of is that friggin monkey you had jammed in the windscreen, where is it now ?
As for you Richard I think you have upset Charlie, all he ever does is moan about poverty and you catch him on his second bottle of frizzanti . By the way when you have finished with your copy of Commicle Motor could you save it for Mappo, you could gift wrap it and present to him at the August bash, cheerio for now Buzzer.

thanks all for the welcome, I gave my beloved monkey to charity Buzzer fetched quite a sum as I understand as it had been round the world in
miles several times. Finger hurting I,m going now.
regards rock.

Going back a little, Pat called them George and Mildred when he worked for him but we renamed them Zimmer and Twin Peaks when they were with us, it is of course George Rayner RIP and Mary he was a good old boy, Buzzer.

PS who are the other two in the picture ?
