Davies Int. Southampton. With photos (Part 1)

Hi Saviem & John,

Is that William Hill ? he’s a Turf Accountant ! :unamused: :unamused:

Buzzer:
This is my little seven and a half ton DAF horsebox, its super to drive and very quiet mind I do go big when I hitch up the trailer behind, it is a David Williams detachable box but sadly they are no longer in business, cheers Buzzer.

here’s one I drive on occasion, and they don’t even get prize money when they win. What’s that all about? This was Saturday at Druids Polo near Stonehenge. handy having air on both axles, allows a decent angle for loading/unloading.

Mike

and here’s another with hydraulic pop out sides, I took the one this replaced back to Ketterer in Karlsruhe Germany for work and got a tour of the factory. They make some excellent kit, horsebox motorhomes, car race team motorhomes etc.

Buzzer, as I guess you own the horses you carry and may not use them for hire/reward can you get away without tacho? I know I can’t but I believe my director who owns the ponies could if he choose to drive, the law seems to be a very grey area at present when it come to horse transport- where confusion exists with “hobby horses” (for want of a better word) and commercial horses. As no prize money exists in Polo it is not commercial but as I’m paid to drive the horsebox I have to use a tacho.

Mike

Hi Mike I don’t have to use a tacho as I am a privateer, but my mate who has a farm has to use one if he moves cattle to the market and has an “0” licence for this but does not have to use a disc when doing his horses for pleasure cheers Buzzer.

Buzzer, thanks for the feedback. That’s what I thought if the horses are for your own pleasure, I guess you can avoid the stupid driver cpc as well if you don’t need it to move any of your haulage fleet.

Thanks

Hi Mike, that photo was taken a couple of miles from where I live out at Wootton wasn’t it? Often have a look down that track as I am driving past as I assume that’s where the horseboxes are kept?

JDC. well spotted, only the polo ones are there. the merc is based elsewhere now.

Hi All,

Just a quick pic I found whilst clearing out the loft. I don’t know who took it but it was with a load of my photo’s ?

Richard

Good afternoon Maggie D.

Nice unseen pic. Given the lack of Headboard ID and containers behind them, I would say they were both Skillbeech by then. They were Yeardley Continental before Buzzer got them.

Hi Horry,

Hope you and the family are well, I guess they were doing the usual lift the box off at Savona, reload Bergamo with washing machines.

Richard

My cattle decided to go mountaineering today on top of the muck heap perhaps they herd (pun) they are off to market on Friday, also me hosses out in the paddock enjoying the sun cheers Buzzer.

Found this Dyson drag trailer advertised on a farming web site and by the looks of the pic its in good fetel, very good especially if you are doing up an old eight legger rigid this would fit nicely on the back, still got the original mudguards vac tank brakes and spare wheel frame and wheel eight studs as well and at £750 seems cheap cheers Buzzer.

Cattle went to market today in a classic old Scania 113 still doing a days work with its houghton container, that will please Mr Bewick and the driver at 74 still at the wheel, his brother drives for the family firm as well and he is 83. Not sure but M reg must be around 1994ish.

Evening Buzzer, Good luck at the Mart…bet he does not have his curtains pulled all round when he is driving, smart “proper lorry”

B… Partridges have eaten my Lettuice, and now they are starting on my Beans!!!

Cheerio for now

The poly dishwashers that hatched in my barn are just starting to learn to fly and they land on any thing including a horse cheers Buzzer.
By the way Saviem market day was not good for me less said the better.

Its Sunday again already so time for a weekly look at how does the garden grow, nice bit of rain on Friday which was not forecast but I am not complaining, planted out the French climbing beans today from pots as the ones I sowed straight in the ground failed.
Balders where are you I need photographic evidence of your veg plot mate, cheers Buzzer.

Nursling

Morning JD and all… Have been a bit busy with visitors etc. So just catching up now… Also had daughter and grandson over for a bit. And a trip to to GP in Monaco  .

Weather up here has been awful… ( I’m North of Cannes and Grasse , not Nice by the way! ) Violent storms , torrential rain and a hard frost about a week ago. It wasn’t forecast and we lost a good few tomato plants. The Baldrick beans sponsered by MJD Agricultural Enterprises have not surfaced, but the neighbour who has far greener fingers than I is going to come over at weekend and help me plant some more… The salad and radishes etc are doing well also the early spuds…
Anyway it’s a nice here now and gather you’re getting some currant bun in England

Re photographic evidence, I dont have a camera on my steam powered 20 Euro pay as you been 'phone , but will get the guvnor to take a pic and post it up at weekend.

Speaking of Grasse , do you or any others remember a young fella called Roland Borgeout? He was from Grasse but worked for Frankie Allen for a while in the 70’s.

Anyway , I’m off to the local lake to try and get some trout for tea…I swear they jump out the water laughing when they see me coming… All for now…Balders.
