I’d be surprised if dash cams weren’t a legal requirement within the next ten years

it will be interesting to know the out come
It will. Because if Maoster gets the blame for this then I’m getting another job.
It will be a sad day for truckers when doddery old fools can pull out of side streets into fast flowing traffic, brake and then sue the victim of the ensuing crash.
Soon as I hear anything definite I’ll let you good folk know. Safe to say that in the meantime I’ll not be losing any sleep.

Not so much a legal requirement - but insurers will already be offering cheaper premiums for firms that “dashcam up” on their fleets…
I’ve already seen plenty of Downtons and DHL trucks with the all-around “recording technology” warnings on them…

We are supposed to be having the 360º camera systems fitted, it is one of the requirements for Silver Fors accreditation I think, at least that was what our compliance manager said was next to happen.
Those 360 degree cameras are brilliant. If it saves one accident the cost is recouped. The technology is there, it makes sense to use it

In Germany ready you can use and record video but can t provide for insuranse companies or police for evidence. This is due Data protection. In Austria illegal at all.

Yeah, our govt. isn’t really big on individual rights. They’d soon shoot that down here by activating the Blue Rinse Brigade. There would be some old guff leaked to the Daily Mail about using the cameras to catch terrorists who live in mansions paid for by the dole from thundering through villages in Juggernauts like something from Clockwork Orange on Speed. Topped off by the fact that we probably won’t be able to do anything about it without them because of European Human Rights Legislation and Health & Safety gone mad.

I’ve seen them, if you look closely at this van you can just make out the cameras…
In our day - we achieved all-around vision on our vehicles in this fashion…
I’m getting more and more worried about legal action that I’m thinking of investing in a helmet cam for when I’m in high risk environments.

Go for the GoPro Dave, apparently they are waterproof too.
Not sure about you seeing camera’s on Downton wagons Winseer.
We have well over 50 units at our depot and not one has a camera fitted.

Quite frankly without seeing everything before hand and after bit of assumption that the car driver being doddery was at fault. The Aventador clearly was over the speed limit, the car driver seemed to be pulling out very cautiously, the car driver may have looked and started to pull out then saw the Lambo and braked in a panicked situation as some people do who are not confident drivers. However what ever the exact circumstances were the Lambo was going too fast for the conditions, and someone just happened to be filming it as it went past, probably had been going up and down that stretch of road several times before hand.
The camera does not always tell the exact truth all the time if you don’t know what happened just before or just after,

I’ve seen them on hightops that I think might be out of the Luton depot.
Sure enough, around here - Aylesford/Chatham don’t have them as yet.
These ones have got forward facing dashcams mounted in the centre of the windscreen…
I used to work out of both Aylesford and Chatham until Aylesford newsprint closed down. Then it was just out of Chatham/Tilbury until I left the agency for Brakes about a year ago now.

Well they’re obviously drug dealers with a car like that, so why worry.
