Pavaroti. These are only twitter feeds but Kent Police seem to be on the ball; we all know about matrix sign operators

It will be an over-reaction to a foolish action.

someone lobbed a Costa cup out the window and it was mistaken for a Sarin grenade

Having tasted Costa coffee I’d say that was an easy and understandable mistake to make!

Where the hell would you o/n park when it opened if your time had been up x no of hours, I know you can move to next available park due to circumstances etc, but think how many motors, all at same time, until traffic clears are heading for same (limited) places, from and to various directions, and for how long until you do finally find somewhere.
I know it was a one off, but it would definitely highlight the lack of parking situation. Just pleased I wasn’t there, especially on a Friday, feel sorry for the lads that were.

Just write on the printout the circumstances for going over hours to find parking. There is nothing written in law to say how far you need to drive to get parked up and no distance is specified. You will not get a fine as they know what happened.
Not sure if you could get away with running over to get on the ferry at Dover but i bet some did.

Be alright if you want a [zb] stuck on top of the bridge, drop ya keks hang yer arse over the side and crimp a length straight onto a passing boat :grimacing:

I guess the police and HA where quite happy for most to park on the hard shoulder between jct 2 and 3, there where still a few there when I came through this morning about 5:45.

Just been chatting to a driver in Birchanger services on the M11. He pulled in at midnight last night after having spent 8 hours parked on the bridge. He was only going to Asda Dartford. His planner told him to fetch the load back when he got going. When he eventually got going he was already waaaayover time, so thought bugger it, another half hour won’t hurt, so instead of trying to find local parking he pressed on to Birchanger.

I’d have done the same.

On a lighter note, the same driver told of an ice cream van caught up in the queue as well.
After a while he opened up and did a roaring trade!
Nothing beats a captive audience eh?

Result, I wasn’t stuck in this for a change!

9 hours closed? They should just give you the option of taking your chances, I’d have been on the limiter hoping for the best…

It’s a national disgrace there’s isn’t more crossings over that stretch. Only takes one major problem like this and the whole region is fubar.

9hours? At least if a trucker needed a crap he had the trailer, but what about the poor car driver, there’s no grass over the hard shoulder on a ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  bridge.

I was right then!
The amount of money lost and more importantly, peoples lives disrupted is a national disgrace :imp:

This country is not far from worse than useless :unamused:

Just wondering…did they still take the toll or did they let the traffic run free till it was clear,I just know what the answer will be.

Hmmmm conspiracy theory beckons. Was it a mr whippy set up job

I think he knows it’s free. I think he was asking if they just had the gates open to allow traffic to clear a lot quicker then normal

Been sitting in the yard at Purfleet since 5:30, one of our drivers is still stuck on the bridge slowly edging forward, apparentley they’re turning everyone round and sending them back through the tunnel to the Essex side.

. . . and pay two tolls?!
