Damage

Anyone had damage like this?

Manuoevering with the rear suspension raised - lead on ramp has caught chassis rail of trailer during turn.

That’s some…

Impressive ■■■■ wittery there.

Our lot got rid of all the run ups some years ago. With air suspension and the correct technique, you don’t need them.

Not necessarily, I’ve twanged the run up ramp pulling out of a junction which has steep slope up to it that levels off as you turn onto the main road

Until you carry loads like we do with a 9 tonne stack of chipboard in front of the landing legs causing the front end to drop drop a good 4/5 inches when you drop the trailer. If someone hasn’t lifted the air suspension right up before they wound the legs down you’re not getting under it without ramps.

This , one of the places I went they were all doing this , so they changed the route out , would of been easier to tell them to level the suspension before they left the yard !!

Ramps are a help to overcome bad technique etc, but if there is a fleet with similar ht 5th wheels then if done correctly they are only a hindrance, as here:

Franglais! You’re back  Like Mark Twain, I see reports of your demise have been greatly exaggerated. Rob has missed you terribly, he’s had to make do with sub-standard sparring partners in your absence.

Pulling a Montracon trailer?

Loads of Mercs running around like that. Changed a few sets of them, only light and flimsy things. Bend at the weakest point as seen in the pics.
Gas axe & sledge straightened minor bends lol

More often than not.

Pulling a Montracon trailer?

Bingo! We have a customer at Bedford where we back down a sunken ramp to get onto the bay and we’ve had to stop sending Monty’s after all the damage our units were sustaining as we pulled off the bay which is a steep uphill that then goes completely flat just at the point where we are having to turn hard right.

Say no more.

What’s a montracon trailer? And why would they be more susceptible to making contact with the run up guides?

Montracon is the manufacturer. Just a difference in chassis design I would guess, less clearance with those merc ramps.

This was M4 West J15 when I was working for Hacklings…

While I was off sick for a few days came back to this…

How about the whole thing?

This one doesn’t have the holes/cut, though.

Edit: How I found it, not what I did to it. Already reported.
