daft question

this is going to sound daft, but what are the blue round signs with the number 10 inside them, for at the entrance to the blackwall tunnel mean?

noticed them last week for the first time and its been puzzling me ever since

Time to learn your highway code mate.

MINIMUM SPEED LIMIT

Could do with some on motorway
On slips saying 60

that really is a bad question for a professional driver

well its the first time ive seen one of them signs so asked the question, now I know what it means

we cant all be perfect drivers`who know everything there is to know about anything :stuck_out_tongue:

At least he asked, unlike some on here who post what they ‘think’ is the right answer…

The phrase Holier than Thou springs to mind…

They have similar ones in the Dartford Tunnels, just in case you venture that way.

There’s no point you already know.

Not everyone knows everything, and even the best of us may have let the littlest bit of information pass us by, If someone genuinely doesnt know the answer then it is never a daft question.

If you dont know then ask… better that than making a big mistake, I will always respect the guy who holds his hands up and asks, than the "know it all " guy who just chances his arm and hopes for the best, one is good at his job, respects the knowledge his peers have built, the other is a maverick …I know which I prefer to work with

There are no signs on the QE2 bridge , probably because it is very rare to be able to drive at the minimum speed.

The daftest question is the one that isn’t asked…

edit: oops Rikki has kinda covered that

That sign used to be standard driving test fodder to see if you had actually learnt the HC.

Along with countdown markers, blue and green for motorway and A-road junctions but they asked you red bars on a white background - used to catch a few out!

to add further to what Rikki said, your a better person for asking because it shows that you want to do the job properly

Mainly used in tunnels, I think for ventilation reasons?

Speed limit signs on the QE2 Bridge are like the ones you always see when sat in any traffic jam - 40mph, god I wish…

how motorway markers are explained in the Highway Code for Joe Public, nice and simple.

3 bars - Could this be the junction■■?

2 bars - Still not sure? Better make decision quick

1 bars - Holy Crap, it is!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: - Proceed by pulling across 4 lanes of fast moving traffic :open_mouth: :open_mouth: to take the exit :grimacing: .

to be honest i never knew that either seems a bit pointless having minimum limits when certain types of vehicle can be banned. no one can tell me 10 mph is a unsafe speed in tunnel but 12mph is perfectly safe

you need to get to a book shop and buy “Know your traffic signs”,
