Daf CF Oil dipstick

Can anyone shed any light. Can’t see it under bonnet.

Check it on the dash display

Dafs have got an electronic dipstic. Should find the oil level by going through the computer. As for an old fashioned one, I reckon its probably under the cab somewhere. Need to tilt it to get to it.

Correct, manual check requires the cab up. Got the electronic display for a quick check.

I remember looking all over the place for it as well :unamused:

Don’t start the engine or you won’t get a reading from the display.
It needs to have been stood for so long before you can check it.

Done that before, sat around waiting for the display after starting it to quickly

you check it on the dash but there is a dip stick but you have to tilt the cab to get to it

Is it behind the wheel?

Next to the fuel pump.

as already said, it is checked electronically on the dash, push the button twice, then scroll down to oil level, push button again, and it comes up

if you want to check manually, tilt the cab, the dipstick can be found on the passenger side of the engine below the alternator

if you have a euro 3 vehicle it will take 5 mins after switching off the emgine to get a reading on the DIP panel
if you have a euro 4 or 5 vehicle then it’s totally different, you won’t get a reading first thing in the morn…to get a reading the engine oil has to be at 80 degrees ,switched off and left for 15 mins…stupid way to do it ,but that’s how it is done so best to check after parking up the night before…as said both have dipsticks on the nearside

Thanks all.

Thought I was going mad.

I used to have a euro 5 cf, and used to just look in the menu at oil level before starting it up on a morning. if I started engine up I couldn’t check level then. Even when I’ve been on my break Or away from wagon for any time, it still wouldn’t display oil level.
We had 15 euro 5 cf’s and everyone was like this.
Never had to ■■■■ about like you say. Just used to look in morning before starting engine.

Where’s the dipstick on a CF DAF?

… behind the steering wheel of course …

coat, hat … taxi

If you get low oil on the readout it takes appx 2 litres to come up to level on the dip stick on a 2002 cf 85 just to save you tilting the cab maybe :bulb:

dont fill the oil up to the max mark on a daf, half way inbetween is best and if you do get a low level oil on the screen and you are on level ground tilt the cab and manualy check it as some times the screen can tell porky pies now n again.

I don’t really trust the dashboard dipstics TBH. I used to drive an 53plate Actros. Night man was heading down south one night on a trunk when the engine seized. Merc fitter came out and diagnosed that there was not a lick of oil in the engine, causing the seizure. All the while the electric dipstic was still saying that the oil level was ok.:open_mouth:
