Bottom lights = fog lamps = can only come on with dip beam (and must be switchable independently)
Top lights = additional main beam/spot lamps = can only come on with main beam (and can be switchable).
Ot that’s my understanding.

Nearly, but most DAF’s have a pair of bumper lights on each side, 1 fog and 1 spot.
I now have this sorted.
I have crossed the wires over at the back of the switch so I now have both sets of lights working OR just the bottom set working.
Didn’t feel the need to up upgrade the relay as each set of lights has its own relay.
If you have sky lights on your DAF,also if you have the combi looking lights in your bumper you will see they aren’t actually combi lights only 1 actually works ,the inner one is a blank with DAF on it …They are wired up as such as that is the law …I have seen one truck which was different ,though that was because SKY LIGHTS where retro fitted
I wonder why DAF (and Scania) don’t wire them to come on together at the factory? Perhaps there are regulations in other countries about it and they want to keep it simple.
Seems a bit pointless to me having them if they don’t work together. Having said that, I’ve never felt the need for more than normal main beam TBH. I rekon it’s pretty pointless unless you do run out to farms or work in the forests a lot. Too much traffic everywhere else.
Thanks norb I see the lower bottom lights are blanked off I just wanted the skylights/spotlights above the drivers head and the mainbeam headlights to work at the same time.
On the CF they weren’t blanked - we’ve got both fogs and spots in the bumper

Did they vehicle come from the factory like that or has the combis without the blank been retrofitted ■■? As i have never seen that set up except when someone retrofitted skylights…
Just to put my 2pence worth in whilst this is back in the limelight…
The old Renault Premiums were like that, if you had the fogs & spots fitted in the bumper, when the spots were switched on, the main beam in the headlight unit was disabled, and vice versa. Never really figured out why.
Also, I see you’ve now got them wired so you can have both OR just the bottom ones. You’ll appreciate that in the snow. I had some after market spots above the sun visor on one of the FH’s I drove, and when it was snowing you couldn’t see a bloody thing unless you turned off the roof lights

so, i was right then
and it only took you 10 months to do it
shuttlespanker:
get the wires swapped over on the switch, and a bigger relay to power all the lamps at oncebetter off getting a proper auto leccy to do it though
Lol Shuttlespanker, I wasn’t going to bother with it because I couldn’t get a definitive answer as to exactly how to do it but after a while it really started to bother me.
10 months eh? I never was one to rush a job.
we did ours when he first got the motor, it never came with combi lights fitted from the factory, was fitted by the dealer before delivery

Factory fitted, been ours since new and we’ve never touched it. It’s only a day cab so hasn’t got the skylights, but most with the skylights seemed to have the same set up that I’ve seen
any chance of a picture of how to swap the wires over ? my dad drives a 105 which has the top cab lights fitted and alos the bottom fogs/spots

that explains it …if no skylights then you have combis …but with skylights it will come from the factory with one blanked …and as someone who posted on here has done retro fitted the combi so you have driving light and fog
Done mine, all thanks to Dave.
Mine has dealer fit combi’s in bumper but our 61 & 12 plates have the fog light with blank behind the other light lens deal going on! Is that factory fit?
Not gonna tell them how to do top lights as I’m selfish like that lol
could someone please share the love and tell which wires to swap over, as ive just moved into one and we do a lot of country lane driving in the dark.
