Just a question Frank, was the 99 Club anything to do with Sammy Morgan ? Cheers Dennis.

Hi Dennis,
As my missus is a Barrovian , she thinks that Sammy Morgan might have started the 99 Club.
Any more questions about Barrow, please ?
Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Who lived in Hawk street then ? Dennis.

Sorry , but she doesnt know. Was it opposite where the Rugby ground is situated ? Thats "one flew over the cuckoo`s nest " ( Hawk :unamused: :unamused: ) for her, Dennis.

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

OK then CWM,here’s an easier one for you,I think,Who lived up Dowbiggin ? The Hawk St. one was a loaded question, sorry ! Cheers Dennis.

Hi Dennis,
Thats an easy one to answer first thing in the morning. Its…errr…the chap who gave (os sold) to you the the very first step onto the haulage ladder.
None other than Tommy Coward, a great character to those who knew him.

My missus says that the “99 Club” was a very popular venue during the middle and late 1960`s.

As for the ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ debate , we mustn`t get the younger generation confused about history
of pre. 1974.

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

I think your Lass led a “miss spent” life during her youthful years in Barrow, good job you got her away out of it Roy and up into “God fearing” country eh! although I never came across her on the occaisions I frequented the 99 Club !!! Honest !! Cheers Dennis.

Hi L 600 , I was browsing through Flicker of ■■■■■■■ Coach opperators ,came accross Tower coaches you ran a tidy fleet and the yard was tidy , AS a retired coach driver my self ,i used to drive a Volvo B 10 M ,ESCALIBER FROM YOUR neck of the woods ,Simms of esdale ? ,in shaws of Coventry ,colours ,R 74 V V P ,JUST a bit of useless info ,Cheers Barry

Thanks b.waddy for the compliment, I did try to present a tidy fleet at all times despite operating along some of the dirtiest cow muck coated roads in the county…

I guess that’s the one I’d heard as John Mitchell, Mainly silver trucks all with JMT Reg’s, I wonder if they’ve come in from D Brown as the fleet seems the same, but they all wear JMT Number plates. No sign writing at all.

It’s just triggered when you said old Iveco’s, because they do have an older 4x2 Unit and it caught my eye at the time, as you really don’t see many around these days.

Of this shape…

Hello
Just to correct what I added to this discussion this thread had a while ago, JMT must be running 5 Iveco Eurostar’s, all 4 x 2.
Seen two this week parked up on West Rd, Wigton and seen three at D Brown’s yard at Brayton Station, Aspatria, all with different reg’s

X40 JMT
X50 JMT
X60 JMT

But didn’t catch the others.
Also, does anyone know who J.I.M Transport is of Aspatria? I belive they own one lorry and keep it in John Irving’s old yard at Mealsgate?

Any infomation would be welcome
Kindest regards

After being busy leading sheep into Kendal Auction Mart, these 2 Scania 6 wheelers are
having a rest , before being loaded up for the afternoon`s work.
The Scanias are more-often seen pulling drawbar trailers hauling hay and straw , and move livestock
at other times, especially during the busy Autumn Sales.

Geof Taylor started the business in the early 1960`s , and now it is run by his son , Richard , from
their base at Underbarrow, near Kendal.
