Hi Dennis,
I am sure that the Two Pedal Beaver
was not available in 1966 ( D reg.)
Also , the tractor unit`s wheelbase looks less than 120" for it to be a Two Pedal Beaver.
Possibly a Badger then ?
I know a li`le bit about others than just Boxers and Chieftains, Dennis.
Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Hi Dennis,
That Spotter
s Book you have must contain a hive of useful information. The 2 C reg. Badgers , along with M.E.Saunders & Sons
Retriever RTD 123 C, ( sorry , shouldn`t have mentioned that name
) , would be some of the first Ergomatic-cabbed Leylands on the roads in the Country.
Did a driver called Sharp drive for Brady many years ago ? I think he drove a drawbar combination? I think he later moved to Kendal after he left Brady`s. My turn to ask a question , instead of “georgeking” .
Thanks , in anticipation,
Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Aye OK “Retriever” ! But why go to the trouble to “point” out who actually “owned” the so called copyright in a manner that suggested the guy who posted the shot was “out of order”,I care to bet that Peter Davies never asked the Brady’s for their permission to take the shot in the first place ? Most of us on the site couldn’t care less who took a particular shot,it’s nice to know of course, but it shouldn’t be the subject of Political Correctness surely ! If you are so thin skinned that you have “taken a powder” as a result of my comments so be it,no hard feelings on my part.If you do venture back onto the site have a “butchers” on the Bewick thread, nearly all the shots are mine, and those that aren’t have been freely posted by others so what is the problem,no one is “earning” from posting them, well I’m not,and I wouldn’t object to anyone using any of “my” Bewick Shots except of course if they were going to “earn” a few quid then I would expect a good “drink” at least, otherwise no harm done,Cheers Bewick.I was not out to censure the poster of the Davies image, I was merely stating facts, nothing more. For you to go off the deep end like you did was totally unnecessary and frankly way, way over the top. Furthermore to be told “GTF of this thread” is utterly unacceptable.
Fair do’s I was a bit out of order sorry !However,as a former Haulier/Driver political correctness was never my strong point but by the same token why are you so keen to point out that the shot was taken from a Peter Davies book,so what, there’s surely no harm done in posting it on the TN site for the other, mainly retired, members to view is there ? This “copyright” issue does tend to flare up now and again and it is just pathetic IMO.I would,of course,be pleased to hear your take on my assertion that permission was never sought from the various vehicle operators when the shots were first taken ? Over the years when I was running Bewick Transport there would often be individuals turn up at the depot and polietly ask if they could
photograph some of the fleet,we always gladly gave permission and answered any questions they asked. So in my book any photos that do appear on this thread are posted without any intent to solicit a financial gain whatsoever.Once again no hard feelings “Retriever” and it is your unfeterred right to post what ever you wish when you wish ! Cheers Bewick.

Thats Brian Sharp,Roy,he did live in Kendal and he drove an LAD Super Comet when I was at Brady’s,as far as I know he never drove an 8 wheeler and trailer and not long after I left, JEO 192 ceased to pull a trailer altogether and was sent to Felixstowe to end it’s days. No,Sharpey was never a Waggon and trailer driver !!Cheers Dennis.

Bewick, no real need to apologise, the matter is history. Just to correct you, the picture was taken from a magazine not a book, the only reason I stated so in my original post was because your could see in the sky the reverse lettering of the page overleaf.
I do not have any problems regarding the posting of a page from a Roundoak book on the thread, although it would be nice if the poster would detail sometimes where the picture came from. What does annoy me is seeing a picture scanned from a Roundoak book on sale on Ebay!
Regarding the copyright issue, there is no point in taking that matter on, we both sit the other side of the fence on that one.
Re the taking the pictures in the public domain - thank god that we can - although now sometimes the Police seem to take more interest than they should in such a harmless activity. As for the taking of photographs on private property, I seek permission and am sure that most others - including PD - do the same.
Anyway, this thread is ■■■■■■■ Companies - so let’s get back to that.

. Dennis CEO 600D you can just see part of com pressure on side of chassie. For tanker work based at ICI Thornton along with a Scammel. The two peddle unit which I don’t now a lot about was mainly based at Felixstowe painted in Tuborgh larger colour with a big daft umbrella. on the roof nick named the ice-cream lorry I now it was aloud of trouble. That was correct Bradys where one of the first to get the tilt cab Leyland (Badger) Joe Saunders the driver. Think ME SAUNDERS was an 8 wheeler driven by TERRY DANSON. Ok Mate. FRANK

Joe “The Woodman” Saunders,I remember him flying about in the new Badger !!Didn’t he move down to Webb International and then got fired for punching someone,I seem to recall one of our retired drivers, who had driven for Storey’s of Lancaster used to run into Webbs when The Woodman was there and he told me the story. As far as the Two Peddle Beaver is concerned,I always thought that Tommy Benson drove it and Possy used to crack on it being able to “pick it’s feet up” away from the lights on Abbey Road, but this Beaver had just the ordinary cab,I will probably be 100% wrong, you know a lot more than me about the 'owld firm Mate ! Cheers Dennis.
I’ve had another “weigh up” on these two Leyland Badgers,BEO 852C was an LAD cab, which must have made it one of the last of that model ( the Big’un probably got it for next to nowt eh!) Then BEO 923C will have been the Woodmans new Ergo cabbed Badger because from memory they only got the one tilt cab Badger and the next reg no’s after 923C start in '66 with CEO64D which was a Scammell Handyman.Heres a shot of 852C so who would have got this motor new Frank ? Cheers Dennis.

hiya,
Fairly certain this motor was driven by a lad who lived in Darwen,
it used to be parked alongside the main road on a bit of waste land
opposite my then local the guy was called Tony who I think moved
to Barrow eventually, he was a very likeable lad and no doubt was
still with Brady’s at the end then over to TDG he’ll be just about off
the road as an OAP by now but he’s the type who would have gone
on for as long as he was allowed he loved the job.
thanks harry, long retired.
. Dennis. Think Derek Turner (Kendal Driver) had BEO 852C new.As Itmust have been the last of L A D cab.Because nearly sure reg of ergomatic cab Badger was BEO 665C I no Swinny spent a lot of time getting the Leyland info but don’t think it,s all correct Tom Sharp was a Kendal driver Brian lived in Lancaster Ted Roberts Kendal Driver Brian. ■■? His trailer mate they had CEO 970 Steer and Trailer then Brian Had HEO 678. Ok Frank

Tom Sharp, another name I recall Frank,he lived on the Castle Grove estate in Kendal, his two sons each ran a tipper at one time but I didn’t know either of them.Your right,Brian lived in Lancaster as well as little Freddie Rich ! It was Brian Graveson who was Ted Roberts mate on the Steer,Brian Graveson eventually ended up back in Barrow running a Fish and Chip shop prior to passing away. Can’t say I knew of Derek Turner from Kendal ! Cheers Dennis.PS,Ted Roberts nickname was “Doggy Bob” and Brian Graveson’s was “Jackdaw” !!!

Cracking shot of the Duke Street Workshop, you forget what a hard worked, rough looking fleet they were eh! The fleet engineer was a bloke called Gillham at that time who was from Milnthorpe at sometime IIRC.Cheers Dennis.
