■■■■ and blast it !!! I’ve just shorted out my keyboard with a flood of tears ##+>>?@ Kaput, dur sprung technic------zilch !! Look CG,no offence taken and none meant Marra,I along with probably the rest of the TN members would maybe wish to be 18 again and know what we know now!!! “george” is quite right of course with his observations on the transport industry and I respect his various opinions on the many different aspects of the industry. When you do,indeed, start up on your own account CG your aspirations would seem to be far higher than mine ever were though !! All I was concerned with was worrying where my next load was going to materialise from, not to mention driving my D1000 very carefully so as not to use anymore fuel than necessary or have to buy a tyre or two or re-line the brakes etc…But you’ll have your hands extremely full from day one with a start up fleet of ten “Top of the Range” Scanias or similar. However, may I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors and no doubt both “george” and myself will watch your progress with keen interest ! Cheers Bewick.
Hello Bewick
I’m glad we’ve sorted some things out marra.
I don’t know about the fleet of 10 Scanias like. I would like to start with one and build it up gradually, you get more satisfaction out of it this way.
Anyway, Scanias are a bit dear for a start up business (although I’d love to think og myself operating them). Maybe DAF would be better for a start up lorry?
As for top of the range, they would have to be. I’m mad about things been clean, tidy and exstreamly smart. No claped out wagons here marra!
I glad to hear that you will keep a interest in my business movements. I’ll keep everyone on Trucknet informed (and hopefully photos when the first lorry arrives)
So Bewick, as my fleet (hopefully expands), are you going to become a “Thomas Gill Logistics” spotter?
Kindest regards
CG
I’m sure in a previous post you stated that you were going to kick off with 10 motors ? must be getting confused in my senior years ! However I’ll never get so confused that I become a “Spotter”,if I ever did there are strict instructions that I should be taken out of “the Home” and shot !! So the answer is NO I’ll defo never bcome a TGL spotter nor any other type of “spotter” Bewick.
Hello Bewick
No marra, but I wouldn’t say your getting confused in your senior years, only wiser!
I’m sorry to hear that your not going to become a spotter. Well, if not a spotter, what about having shares in the business?
Say 50/50 ■■?

Hello georgeking
I have studied your post and Thankyou for posting it.
Yes, I do sometimes blow a gasket but this is in frustration at some of the remarks that have been made about me.
Yes, I’m young at 18, but some people think they have the right to take the p*** out of me.
Of late, this hasn’t happened (to my delight) as I don’t like posting things that might upset of distress people.
This is not my nature.
I would like to thank the people of Trucknet UK who welcomed me with open arms and are still very kind to me.
These people include you George, who have offered me advise and helped me greatly and don’t think this isn’t welcomed.
Coming from a none haulage background, and been the only person in the family interested in haulage, advise for running a haulage buisness is like gold dust.
I would also like to thank you for your offer and I would love to take it up when I start looking seriously at the idea (its still in planning and thinking stage)
I have carmed down of late and some of my episodes I have made in the past I can say won’t be repeated and most of the time, I’ve been to blaim rather than people like Bewick.
Bewick has been good to me too and I inturn haven’t been to him, so I would also like to openly apologise to Mr Bewick for some of my remarks in the past
Bewicks banter has sometime made me blow a gasket but I know at heart he means not harm.
Thankyou george, your post has made been open my eyes to what I’ve done sometimes.
None of which, will be repeated, I promise
Kindest regards
CG
I mentioned to you previously that this thread is about ■■■■■■■■ Hauliers and is not a rebel thread (as you were treating it) OK by saying this I upset one of your friends on here but it had to be said, we all like a laugh and a bit of ■■■■ taking, my self I am guilty of taking many threads off topic and asking tiresome questions, however at the time your posts were quite frankly out of control.
You were given some good advice a couple of pages back from another member who mentioned running a very old DAF CF vis a vis a top of the range Scania, please read that post again please, it made a lot of sense. I had too many wines one day so under the influence I questioned the people from Turners (Soham) about why they run a lot of basic specification DAF CF’s with very small middle axles. Now Turners are the most successful Haulier Britain has ever seen or will ever see in my opinion, I mentioned business models to you previously, here is some advice master Turners! They quoted how much more profitable these DAF’s were vis a vis more upmarket models that is what it is all about profit and loss, nothing else, haulage is a business and should be taken very seriously.
Hello georgeking
Thankyou for your advise george. I’ll have alook at that post you mentioned.
So, DAF’s are sertainly not to be sniffed at.
And I would agree with you on the most successful Haulier in Britain thought. I’m always seeing there lorries and they sertainly seem to be a good company to work for too.

Gah, that word again… “Logistics”, “Distribution”, whatever happened to good old fashioned Haulage?
‘Haulage’ dew I would say is a bit old fashioned.
Even the army use it now.
To get anywhere these days, you need to put ‘Logistics’ & ‘Distribution’ on the side.
I followed a smart Scania R Topline with Timber Trailer yesterday in the livery of Hamage Logistics.
I thought they where a big outfit until I find out there only have 1 lorry!
I was a 12 reg Topline (very smart), so the word ‘Logistics’ sertainly works for the smaller haulier as well as the larger one it seems
But, personally, I prefer the word Haulage to Logistics.
Kindest regards

I know the Hamage lorry well as it is owned by a good friend of mine. however if you are to look closely the livery states: HAMAGE HAULAGE. Timber Logistics. so perhaps there is still a place for “Haulage” in todays “Logistics and Distribution” world. Note also the Bold “innovate logistics” and how far fancy words got them. Dan.

There you are “Dew” now you know that if you haven’t got “Logistics & Distribution” on the side of the tipper body you are not “in fashion” ! I understand that Trevor is having his motor lettered at the week end and it will be on show on the Club car park on Sunday !! Cheers Dennis.

I think me and you both know the chances of that happening Dennis, a “when hell freezes over” one

Hello Danscania
Sorry, I did get that wrong.

I found this on facebook a cracking photo of T Brady’s DAF 2600 they were probably the only haulier who ran these, not too sure how many they owned.

Bit of useless info “george”,the DAF is coupled to an Athersmith 30ft tandem axle Boden trailer,Athersmiths never had any 40 ft trailers or even 33ft ones IIRC.This shot would have been taken a couple of years or so after the Brady takeover. Cheers Dennis.

These also ran them george albiet not a ■■■■■■■■ company. transportphotos.com
Prescotts of Failsworth had a M reg 2600 from new and then went on to get 2 x 2800’s ex Jenkinson’s International, Salford and numerous others from the evolving DAF range of top weight tractor units.
