Some one has posted this cracking photo on facebook I hope that they do not mind me posting it on here.

Seeing as I took the photo one Sunday morning in the Milnthorpe depot prior to the outfit setting off south for the ferry “george” I will agree with you that it is a “cracking” shot, but it sure aint me that put in on arse book so some Scrote must have purloined it off this site and stuck it on A/book !! Anyhow heres another nice shot of one of the 1844 Mercs we ran,and it is coupled to another one of a batch of Lawrence David 13:7 mtr x 4 mtr euro trailers we ran. This shot was taken at our Kendal freight terminal where our European fleet operated from.

Dear ■■■■■■■■ Gill

I have read some of your comments and discussions with Bewick (and indeed others) on this forum, it has caused considerable distress, I presume too many people, at times your comments can be premature because Bewick’s posts have been slightly mistranslated by yourself.

Bewick is a very successful retired haulier who built up a formidable business from scratch, he has over a period of time gained unparallel experience. He has tried to help you and guide you in the right direction, to no avail! I even remember when you first joined the forum you made some very inaccurate comments about a member of my families haulage business, Bewick believed you over me and was even quite caustic to me about it, I was proven right, however it must be noted that your comments had superior respect at that time.

I appreciate (infact we all appreciate it) that you have your own strongly held opinions and views on how an haulage business should be run however that does not mean that you should disregard other peoples advice. No doubt when you start your own haulage business you will put a lot of your management theories into practice with the objectives of emulating Edward Stobart, however you must not disregard what other hauliers have done, their achievements are to be respected and learned from.

You may say that I have often disagreed with Bewick, I am qualified to do so, for example a few years ago I was involved with a Russian airline we had a fleet of Antonov 12 and Antonov 72 aircraft, our turnover was over £30m it was a considerably larger business then Bewick Transport! I have the experience to disagree with him I think that you do not.

Your passion about the haulage industry is impressive and no doubt consultations are in place about making a career in the industry, but at the moment we have to avoid using the word “team” as there are too many disparities.

I wish you every endeavour in your haulage career I will offer advice if required, many others were also willing to offer you advice as well, however you must stop firing bullets in all directions.

Kindest Regards

Hello georgeking
I have studied your post and Thankyou for posting it.

Yes, I do sometimes blow a gasket but this is in frustration at some of the remarks that have been made about me.
Yes, I’m young at 18, but some people think they have the right to take the p*** out of me.

Of late, this hasn’t happened (to my delight) as I don’t like posting things that might upset of distress people.
This is not my nature.
I would like to thank the people of Trucknet UK who welcomed me with open arms and are still very kind to me.
These people include you George, who have offered me advise and helped me greatly and don’t think this isn’t welcomed.

Coming from a none haulage background, and been the only person in the family interested in haulage, advise for running a haulage buisness is like gold dust.
I would also like to thank you for your offer and I would love to take it up when I start looking seriously at the idea (its still in planning and thinking stage)

I have carmed down of late and some of my episodes I have made in the past I can say won’t be repeated and most of the time, I’ve been to blaim rather than people like Bewick.
Bewick has been good to me too and I inturn haven’t been to him, so I would also like to openly apologise to Mr Bewick for some of my remarks in the past
Bewicks banter has sometime made me blow a gasket but I know at heart he means not harm.

Thankyou george, your post has made been open my eyes to what I’ve done sometimes.
None of which, will be repeated, I promise
Kindest regards

■■■■ and blast it !!! I’ve just shorted out my keyboard with a flood of tears ##+>>?@ Kaput, dur sprung technic------zilch !! Look CG,no offence taken and none meant Marra,I along with probably the rest of the TN members would maybe wish to be 18 again and know what we know now!!! “george” is quite right of course with his observations on the transport industry and I respect his various opinions on the many different aspects of the industry. When you do,indeed, start up on your own account CG your aspirations would seem to be far higher than mine ever were though !! All I was concerned with was worrying where my next load was going to materialise from, not to mention driving my D1000 very carefully so as not to use anymore fuel than necessary or have to buy a tyre or two or re-line the brakes etc…But you’ll have your hands extremely full from day one with a start up fleet of ten “Top of the Range” Scanias or similar. However, may I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors and no doubt both “george” and myself will watch your progress with keen interest ! Cheers Bewick.

Good decision on your part “H”,for one thing you’d be payed less, per week, than you were at the time you retired !! Plus, these young “whizz Kids” aren’t interested in employing someone of your calibre and with your knowledge !!! Their type of driver is one that has just got his “ticket” and is still wet behind the ears. It’s called “the race to the bottom” “H” for both haulage rates and wages and I’m just glad we are not part of it mate !! Cheers Dennis.

Bewick you are absolutely right, I am glad that I no longer have the responsibility of running a transport company neither road haulage or passenger transport, the good old days are long gone now.
Cheers, Leyland 600

Hello Bewick
I’m glad we’ve sorted some things out marra.
I don’t know about the fleet of 10 Scanias like. I would like to start with one and build it up gradually, you get more satisfaction out of it this way.
Anyway, Scanias are a bit dear for a start up business (although I’d love to think og myself operating them). Maybe DAF would be better for a start up lorry?
As for top of the range, they would have to be. I’m mad about things been clean, tidy and exstreamly smart. No claped out wagons here marra!

I glad to hear that you will keep a interest in my business movements. I’ll keep everyone on Trucknet informed (and hopefully photos when the first lorry arrives)
So Bewick, as my fleet (hopefully expands), are you going to become a “Thomas Gill Logistics” spotter?

Kindest regards
CG

I am no longer a member of the Bewick page on facebook as one or two of the ex drivers did not like the presence of “non Bewick” members, I must add though there are quite a few members of the Burridge family who are members, it looks like Tyson Burridge still takes an active interest in all things Bewick!

From what I gather when the Renault was offered to David Bateson he declined it preferring to keep a Scania instead, there is a photo of him in his cab preparing for a long hard journey to the South of Europe probably Munich.

Can you remember the Stewart Cameron (Drymen) Ltd trailer parked up near your Kendal freight terminal?

I don’t blame you “george” for no longer being a member of the Bewick arsebook page, they are just B.S.you,or you are on a “wind up” !! Dave Bateson was never offered a Renault while I was still I.C.,in fact,he was never on the Euro fleet, the last bloke you would send to Deutchland would be Dave, unless you wanted to start another W.W. !!! The shot of him in the Scania, which I haven’t seen is probably one of him leaving for the deepest South of England !! This is a shot of the last motor he had while I was still at Bewick Transport.

I’m sure in a previous post you stated that you were going to kick off with 10 motors ? must be getting confused in my senior years ! However I’ll never get so confused that I become a “Spotter”,if I ever did there are strict instructions that I should be taken out of “the Home” and shot !! So the answer is NO I’ll defo never bcome a TGL spotter nor any other type of “spotter” Bewick.
