Cumbria companies

I deliver into Igglesund now and have not seen a truck in their colours (apart from the Transits that some run around in), usually it’s Stobarts or Nofolkline Curtainsiders in their.

I’ve seen a few of Armstrongs with a wood based company on that the name escapes me, and also Jenko’s with “BSW Timber” down the side.

Hello dew
No, you won’t see one in Igguisunds colours because Stobarts got rid of that livery in 2006.
The BSW timber ones that Jenkinsons have are taking bark for BSW Timbers waste recycling business at Harker.

ME Saunders of Ulverston is another fleet having vehicles in quarry liveries.

Yep they have a few in Bardon colours, slightly out of ■■■■■■■ but Geoff Thursby of Carnforth has quite a few in their livery too.

Here’s ours in Bardon livery, would look so much better Green and Red but it’s better than nothing!

There are someone from South ■■■■■■■ called Brewer who run about 40 new Scania all on sub contract to Eddie Stobart, don’t why he does not look for his own contracts, all of his vehicles are in Stobarts livery.

Hello georgeking
Thats not quite true. Ed Brewer is from Penrith and he runs around 25 Scanias.
He runs around 18 of these in his own livery and the rest are in his own livery, which is red and white with Brewer stamped on the top.
Ed Brewer runs from two depots, Mardale Rd, Penrith and Old Rugby Truck Stop, Rugby.

Apart from ESL subcontracting (which he has done since the mid 1970’s), he also does subbing from Brewers Road Haulage (which is run by Alan Glendinning) and Alan Glendinning Haulage, both from Penrith. He also has a contract with Dean Auld Transport from Penrith.

Most of the Scanias are Toplines (the oldest been 2006 reg and the newest been 4 2012s), but he runs two Scania R Highlines in his own livery.
I hope this helps george

Now think carefully does this business model make any sense to you?

To be honest with you george, Yes, it does.
Hes got constent work and hes running a large fleet of lorries and he must be making money otherwise he wouldn’t be in business today.

Why, do you think it isn’t a good business model?

OK then you think it is a good business model, because they are running a large fleet of very smart top of the range Scanias! I imagine Bewick has a similar view to yourself.

Well george, put it this way, I wouldn’t mind been in his shoes running that business.
And your right about them been top of the range Scanias (nearly all Toplines). Its certainly a buisness to look at closely.

You imagine quite wrongly “george”,all that Glitters is not Gold !!! Plus I have no desire to enter into any discussion involving our young friend from Wigton “fantasizing” about how many motors he’s contemplating running when he leaves school ! Cheers Dennis.

georgeking:
Dennis it does not make sense to me running such a large fleet all on a sub contract.

None whatsoever “george”,it’s debatable wether the Prime contractor makes a margin so it dosent say much for the “subby’s” chances does it ? I would be suitably intreagued to see the subby’s operational costings ! Maybe they won the Euro “mega bucks” Lottery so they can subsidise their haulage business indefinitely! Cheers Dennis.

Another fine example of the ■■■■■■■■ you make up on a regular basis, the BSW liveried trailers that A W Jenkinson operate are engaged on UK wide bulk haulage, just because they have BSW on the side don’t assume that’s all they carry. Since when did BSW have a recycling business at Harker? They have a sawmill at Cargo!

Hello Duff Lock
Its called A W J Recycling, which is a 50% partnership between A W Jenkinson and BSW.
Really, its not Harker, its Hespin Wood near Longtown.
