Hi “georgeking”,
Without the fear of upsetting " Bewick" and others , there is a thread specially devoted to the Stobart fans
. This segregation allows the ■■■■■■■ Companies` thread followers uninterrupted interest and enjoyment.
I note that from your recent postings
, that you enquire about many hauliers, and their operatioins.
I do hope that you are not being brainwashed by ■■■■■■■■ Gill.
Maybe you should have remained in ■■■■■■■ , then you would have seen all these haulage companies more often.
Cheers, cattle wagon man.
I remember Saul Miller and his Brother Michael running 4 or 5 wagons one an ERF 54G circa 1985/6 I also remember Alfie Parker when he worked with his mate Big Brian Neen a big tall lad with a beard and a woolly hat, looked like a cross between a Viking marauder and a garden knome. Brian had a Chinese ERF with an early LV style Boalloy cab. I seem to remember the wagon was fitted with a 5LW Gardner and when coupled with its drawbar trailer was not the fastest motor in ■■■■■■■■ The tale was told of Alfie driving and Big Brian with a rope attached to the front towing jaw then up over his shoulder and pulling the whole outfit up The Nest (Chestnut Hill) heading south out of Keswick with a load of Smiths Bros of Whitehaven paper bags. They were on contact to Smiths. This ERF was acquired by Jim Lawson later on.
Cheers. Leyland 600.

There has been a lot of talk maybe too much talk about Fletchertown on this thread, this thread is not a rebel thread this thread is about hauliers from ■■■■■■■■I have passed through Fletchertown many times visiting Mealsgate were some relatives ran a haulage company. However I have only been in Fletchertown once, I played for the Dearham United football team and we had a match once against a team from Fletchertown, I was substituted at half time so I popped into Mealsgate.
There was a haulier from Fletchertown called David McCellan, ex driver for Lawsons and Harrisons, I believe he had about three tippers not to sure if he is still in business.
Here is a couple of crackers from another local haulier from that area;-

Quite right too “george”,there’s been far too much crack about Fletchertown on this thread although I can’t understand why you stuck shots of “fast eddies” motors on this thread when there is already a thread for this sort of garbage!!However,I seem to recall a haulier Pal of mine based at Mealsgate mentioned to me once about “a football match” with some little scroats from Dearham way and just prior, during and after the match there was a “spike” in petty crime and vandalism in the local area,I wonder if it was the same match you mention !!! Cheers Bewick.

We all know about the numerous liveries that BEWICK had, Stobart and Jenkinsons have many vehicles in customer liveries. However very other hauliers have more than one livery, the only ones I can think of are:-
Robsons. - Carnation
J & W Watt. - Frozen Fare
F Brown. - F brown plant hire, Pirelli
H & ME Fearon. - Smith Brothers Whitehaven
Barnett & Graham. - GW Holliday
T Brady. - Athersmith, Furness, HeyshamI can’t think of anyone else with two or more liveries.
Hello georgeking
I can add to that:
Eddie Stobart - Metal Box livery & Igguisund (local ones only)
Other local ones:
Thompsons Plant Hire - West Coast Commercials
V Thomspon - Thames Board
Robsons - Thames Board, Scottish Glass Products & Johnston & Johnston
A D Boyes - Leyland Bus
J R Dixon - West Port Windows
Markley - Isola
H & E Trotter - Kingstown Commercials
F Brown: BSW Timber & Nestle (trailers only)
Hope this helps
Kindest regards
