The Lawson picture was taken on Red Scar Industrial Estate in Preston next door to Ian Parkinson’s. They must have left Lawsons by then but I don’t know who had them or where they were going. Probably a sale with all the trailers.

Hello trcukfing
Thankyou for that infomation marra. Actually, Lawsons still run one Foden like that on heavy haulage and yard shunting. Although the company has invested in DAF’s after the demise of Foden, they still run a big number of Fodens
Kindest regards

Hi Hodgeturbo, Who remembers the Albion CX ■■ 8 wheeler wrecker originaly a flat operated by West ■■■■■■■■■■ Farmers based at Penrith and double shifted by two Penrith lads running to BOCM at Selby and loading back to WCF Penrith or Wigton depots occassionaly to Carlisle depot. This wagon was acquired by Milburn Motors at Kingstown and converted to a wrecker. In its WCF trunking days it was fitted with a step up box making it quite fast thus when an accident occurred on the A74 or A6 almost a daily event in those days the call would go out to a Milburn fitter " Git yersel tear arsed away up to Gretna or Johnstonbridge as fast as ye can an git such and such a wagon recovered" Consequently the wrecker was known as Tear Arse. I am not sure if it passed to Gilbraithes on their takeover of Milburn Motors.
Cheers , Leyland 600.
