what about joe and eric (I think) routledge , father and son who used to have fuel tankers and parked on o’neils yard on lawson street in aspatria, pics anyone?

1 heres 2 pics

cheers Hodge, you must have one hell of an archive there, certainly brought memories back. Andrew.

found these in my old albums
JOHNSONS OF GILGRUX, TYSON BURRIDGE,LAWSONS, WCBP, V THOMPSON

Great shots of Johnsons 111’s!! and that one of WCBP’s A489 EAO,which was one of 5 exWCBP Scanias I bought after they were taken over by Tankfreight IIRC. I can’t just lay my hands on a clear shot of this motor in service with Bewick Transport but I am almost certain that the fron’t motor in this line was A489.It was taken one Sat. morning at Carnforth Truck Stop after the three motors had been to Bo-Alloy,Congleton to collect 3 new Tautliners. I was last coming off the M6 roundabout but ended up first in line on the park!!! I wonder if that was a hint from the two drivers!! 3 full English and he’s paying!! Got done every which way no matter what time of day or night it was wherever it was! I could gaurantee I could draw a gang of Bewick drivers whenever I went near a cafe it seemed.Didn’t mind in the least though! Cheers Bewick. This was’t nearest 'Ah cud git till A489 of WCBP it’s 'marra A490 stood in’t depot at Milnthorpe.

No photos ,but an old story from the early 80s ,one of our lads was delivering derv to their site and they had just got a new wash up and working, the yard man told him he could try it out when he got tipped ,when he got back to Teeside he was on holiday for 2 weeks, on returning to work the guv gave him the bill for £7.50p he’d got for using the wash!!!,Vic.

Wouldn’d fancy messing with that fella Paul!! This is a shot of the last ( and best) dog I had at the depot, and nobody but nobody messed with Brucie, father was a retired police alsatian and he was out of a Rotty ■■■■■,got him from animal rescue Penrith at 3 year old( bloke that had him was a Stamper driver) He called to see him 6 month after I got him and Brucie would have worried the little scroat if I’d let him! He hated motorbikes eh! has knocked one or two drivers bikes over when they were on the wash! He’d go through a brick wall if I’d asked him! Once had 5 drivers in one cab on the pumps, and all the fitters locked in the workshop office! not varra’ funny but it was at the time.Sunk his teeth into one of the young drivers arses which I was sorry about Brucie had had all his “shots” so he caught nowt eh! (there was one or two others he could have had hold of with pleasure!!)Never had any break-ins during the time I had him,but when I “retired” they got turned over a number of times!! Cheers Dennis.
