Hi ■■■■■■■■ gill as far as i can recall geoff bell set up in the seventies, and ran volvo f7,s painted red with ivanhoe on the front then he went on to run the truck stop at kingstown before moving abroad and leaving chris in charge. The fleet then changed to daf 95,s with a variety of flat trailers and tautliners
Yeah he did run the truckstop i delivered fuel thier and remember him in charge,Vic. I also remember another not so famous eddie who ran the forcourt at the truckstop in the early days ,he was one nice bloke, any one remember him? Vic

Hello.
Thanks to hodgeturbo and Bewick for the great info and photos. It’s a great pitty that you Bewick haven’t got any old Boyes photos.
P.S. hodgeturbo, didn’t Solway Aggregates own the Workington Slag Banks (before Thoms. Armstrong)?
Hello Greek,
The Vintage Rally at Silloth was actually, sorry to say, crap. Yes, the weather wasn’t good, but the display of Lorries and Vans was very poor, compared with Distington and Border City Steam Fair (Carlisle). There was only around 6 Lorries and 5 Vans. Well, what can you expect from Allerdale Bourgh Council (the event planners). But still, to look on the good side, I got some good photos of the Lorries there! So, here’s another photo, this time, a Aktinson Border owned by Tyson H Burridge.
P.S. I wouldn’t bother going to Silloth if I were you. But, try to go to the Border City Steam Fair (I go every year) and they have a great display of everything to do with transport.
Hello.
Any crack on D.A Harrison’s (Waverton)? See they’ve bought a DAF CF artic (not new).
P.S Any old Photos of them?
Hi ■■■■■■■■ gill.
Was the Silloth Rally last weekend ? A few of the oldies
from your area were at Scorton ( Lancs. ) Vintage Rally.
A good gathering at a good and well-organised venue. I picked up a leaflet for the Carlisle & District Truck Show to be held on Sunday Sept. 11 th. at Kirkbride Airfield. Maybe with a bit of FREE publicity on TruckNet UK it might gain more attention.
Sorry, but as I live in south ■■■■■■■ I don`t have any older wagon photographs from your area, so good luck.
Cheers, cattle wagon man.
Yes got to Border City Mon - Fri not a wagon but comercial based you may have seen it gill hereit is Tyne Tees run couple of weeks ago
Hello Greek.
Yes, I have seen your van at a couple of rallies. It’s a super camper van. Just for you, I’m putting a photo of Ford Transit pickup owned by David Roper of Workington, who owns Mossbay Metals in the Town. The van was owned by David Ropers Granda, who used it on a milk round in Workington.
Here it is at Silloth
Hello Cattle Wagon Man.
The Silloth Rally was on Last Weekend (18th and 19th). The Carlisle & District Rally Kirkbride is a Favorite of mine. They show of Modern and Classic Lorries which is second to none.
Well Worth a Visit!
(P.S. no problem if you haven’t got any photos of north ■■■■■■■■ hauliers).

Is there still a lot of slag left at Workington? There’s a big bank down at Barrow still! Why can’t it be used to build a causeway across Morecambe Bay and the Duddon estuary which would open up the whole of the West coast. Then again mebee not as we would get over-run by Barrovians,Millomers and Marra’s trying to escape oppression and enter civilisation as we know it!!! Tin Hats on,into the Shelters lads!!! Bewick.

I was parked at Whitwood yesterday when I heard this beast arriving. What a sound!!! 525 ■■■■■■■ this motor is getting on a bit but still works hard for its living, the previous day it had loaded timber out of Mosstodloch. I asked the driver (Jim Stockdale)
if I could take a picture and we got chatting and within ten minutes you would think we had known each other for years. Jim mentioned having pictures of the Diamond T that was used around Penrith to “help” the abnormal loads around the town before the M6 was finished they should be well worth looking at. I mentioned this site to Jim so anyone who knows him please encourage him (read bully if necessary) to get posting as he has a goldmine of pictures at his fingertips.
