Well said “H”!! This bloke probably sits on his brains and talks out of an orifice close by.I would doubt if he knows the first thing about the transport industry! But as we say—we’ve heard Sparra’s ■■■■ before haven’t we!! Cheers Dennis.PS and Marcus wants a written warning!!!Name a another firm from ■■■■■■■ that has left it’s mark on the haulage industry!
Its all about opinions, and you have every right to champion Stobart’s.But some of the less high profile firms of ■■■■■■■ and other parts of the UK are going quietly about their business, and have been around a lot longer.
Cheers Dave.
i think this mob where from ■■■■■■■ had names on the front of their lorries did quite well then got bought out history repeating itself MAYBE■■?

Not wishing to be “Labelled” an Anorak!!! When I was 13 a pal of mine drove for Wearing Bros.of Flookburgh who subbed full time for Robsons ‘o Carlisle.Well one Saturday he came down frae’ Carlisle loaded for the south and gave me a list of all the Robson motors,Names and reg nos.-----That’ll keep you quiet ticking off the motors that pass through Kendal!! I can’t remember how long I perservered or what happened to the neat hand written list that had been prepared in the Robson office!!But it had never-the -less been written out in copperplate ink,no printers in those day’s!!!I IMO Stobarts will never occupy the same spot in Transport history as Robsons did,as they ran a nationwide operation without the benefit of modern technology and Curtainsider trailers not to mention roping and sheeting! A tramper at Robsons was indeed a tramper! and a trunker was just that!! Times change—not always for the best!! Bewick.
Eyup Dennis,do you count Kirby Lonsdale as ■■■■■■■■ If so there’s an Irving Foden over here pulling a tandem axled trailer for the TT Fair.I don’t have a camera phone so no picture but if you want one I’ll take my anthracite powered Canon up there and tek one.
There wouldn’t be a charge for this service…

Hiya Chris me old(well not very!) mucker, Irvings are from Hutton Roof which I think is just in ■■■■■■■ and Kirkby Lonsdale is probably the nearest civilisation to the sawmill!! Apparently all the family and workers have various limbs missing from getting too close to the machinery!!! I’ll look out for the photos! can you still get Box Brownie film developed on the island? Cheers Dennis.
Quite a lot of Robsons old vehicles ended up in Ireland. These days you see Stobarts all over the place in Ireland both in the Free State and the Six Counties I assume that they are delivering for Tescos.

Dennis I once got accused of having a spill when delivering fuel to a customer in Northumberland our boss at the time said if we can proove this your out of a job ,after a lot of years on for this firm . He said it would show up on thier security cameras i said this company will be lucky if they had a Brownie camera,it took me 3 months to clear my name on this one ( the word Brownie fetched this to mind.) Vic.

be alright dennis put a day in . paul
I apologize for the poor quality of these few photos, must be the bad batch of steam coal I’m using in me camera
The Isle of Man TT 2011 fair is from ■■■■■■■ - Carlisle area I think - and some of you ■■■■■■■■ lads might recognise one of the motors. They were difficult to photograph because they tend to nose up 'em up to fences or hide them at the back of the rides so some I couldn’t get near.
Kirby Lonsdale was in Westmoreland in olden days so I presume it’s ok to put this Irving’s Foden on.The owner told me it’s going to be painted in Taylors Fair colours when back in England.
I thought this ERF E10 was ex Wincanton with the “YB” reg but it says Rayner Fletcher on the headboard. The bloke who owns it was from Carlisle and bought it down south somewhere.
This ERF has a North Wales reg but it was here last year and came over to the IOM from a fair in Gibraltar, the owner travels with the Taylors Fair and says he’s had no trouble with it since he bought it.“Twin -splitter box is the best box ever” he said.
hi chris i thouoght morley depot ran some yb reg erfs

Y’u could 'ave tightened the curtains up on that ERF before you took the shot Chris!!! Very “Wincanton Shunterish” I think–as in Idle barsteward!! Cheers Dennis.
