If my memory is correct , the gimmer lambs would have been en route to either Kendal or Hawes Auction .
“Strawgalore” would later be heading to Old Hutton Primary School, - following a clean-up after his runabout in the farmyard.
Cheers , cattle wagon man.

No , Dennis , it wasnt the
stonyground that "Strawgalore" made contact with that morning,..............it was the opposite. He probably fell headlong into the soft
stercus tauri` .
Now if youd attended K.G.S. instead of L.S.f.B. , then you
d have been taught Latin, and youd know what
stercus tauri` means.
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
Another Asby Fell convoy

Also , someone recently asked for any photos of J. & W. Watt Ltd.
Well,…here`s one for starters.
Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Hi “Strawgalore”,
Sorry , but the sentence starting : "Now if youd attended............." , was directed at "Bewick" . :unamused:   That
s where he went to be educated. in life .
I already knew of the demise
of L.S.f.B. before your schooltime.
Anyway ,…thi` learned summat of a foreign language today .
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
Hi Dennis ,
Aye , I most certainly do know Athol . I`ll not make any further comment about him.
.
Now , exactly when did L.S.f.B. have an Anglo-Saxon language teacher ?
Before ,…or after your time ?
Cheers , Anon.
Thanks for the kind comment , “Klunk/■■■■■■■■ , some more of the Asby Fell
trekkers to follow.
This Bedford OB needs no further introduction , as it`s a regular attendee at commercial rallies.
There is one (certain ) TNUK member who will recognise this Bedford.
- no name mentioned , though.
Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Do you know about the " Wanted,- good sheepdog" advertisement in the Westmorland Gazette many years ago ?
It was supposedly penned
(no pun intended ) by Tommy . If you
d like to know the story , I
ll tell you.
Tommy used to own the Crooklands (Hotel) 60 years ago , back in the days when it was a farm.
Again ,as for Athol and his wife ,…no comment !
Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Very sad news to learn of the loss of John Stamper. It was a privilege to have known such a popular businessman.
My sincere condolences to his family.
Cattle wagon man.
CWM, It was a shock when I received a phone call informing me of John’s death, we had a good crack at a rally one day last summer. I knew his father ■■■■ very well too and did occasional jobs for him with his LAD cabbed Leyland Comet back about 1964.
Cheers Leyland 600.
Taking a step back to January 1959 . One of my father`s favourite wagons during his 43 years of being a haulier.
This Ford 4D was photographed on its last day at work before being sold to W. Macfarlane , Kirkby Lonsdale .
The Ford was to be replaced by a new Austin FE 5 tonner , complete with a brand new livestock body , built by J. & J. Smith of Kendal.
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
P.S. Where has “nelly1972” gone ■■
