Well now cwm, I have had the walking stick in low axle for a while now, however I have been out twice with it today but get too much rock and roll when I lift the button, my offside suspension is still very stiff and painfull, got to keep taking the tablets. !!
Cheers Leyland 600

Hi “Leyland600” ,
Even in low-axle , you`ll be able to pass “C.G.” in his Fiat Punto . :exclamation:

Do you need stabilizers when the strong cross-winds blow in from the Solway ?

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

hiya,
Roy I think I’ve still got an old Sturmey Archer 3 speed down the shed
it’s ideal for underperforming walking sticks, free to a good home.
thanks harry, long retired.

I understand that is the same gearing as optional extra for Fiat Puntos .
Get your pocket money ready , “C.G”. :bulb:

Cheers , Anon.

You could easily overtake CWM with your car CG,he would be walking the cattle faster than one of his old Leylands could carry them.
Cheers Dave.

You are quite right , there , “D.T.R.” Those Fiat Punto tyres would be spinning like fury as he attempts to get a grip on
the newly-laid brown topcoat after the cows had been walked down the road . :stuck_out_tongue:
Brown tinted side windows on a Fiat Punto doubles the selling price too. :sunglasses:

Great pic, does anyone know what happened to the model t?

Eric Nicholson Scania with a folded up trailer

Hi CWM I used my elbow crutches like stabelisers for a while until I got my balance then transferred to the stick, trouble is I am now walking like a sailor who has spent a lifetime in rough seas.
As for CG driving on the brown tarmac he should be very proficient as we all are in the Wigton area as there is no shortage of roads like that especially on the north east side of town. When I was operating my local bus service occasionally teachers from the school would ask me if I would teach them to drive a coach when they took retirement stating that they could imagine themselves driving a big fancy coach down the motorways of Europe to the sun. A quick reality check informed them that I needed someone capable of driving at 15 to 20 mph on roads 9 to 12 ft wide completely covered in mud and coo sxxt with the ability to turn in farm lane ends etc and frequently trailing behind up to three herds of cows on an afternoon run using a good old trusty Leyland Leopard. Needless to say many declined the offer.
Cheers, Leyland 600

Numerous people have posted these superb photos on the SOLWAY VEHICLE ENTHUSIASTS CLUB, quite frankly they are the finest photos I have ever seen and are to important not to share here. However if the owners want me to remove them I will. Who ever owns these photos - THANK YOU

Roger Aldhouse has kindly posted this photo on one of the Dumfries pages, I will remove it if the owner requests me to do so. What is the connection between Hodgsons & Robsons?

hiya,
Is the last picture the Guy a subbies motor no moniker on the front and a
Lancashire registration number and apart from the headboard no other
signwriting is visible.
thanks harry, long retired.

Mr Gill the answer to your question I do not know, however I hope that no one minds me posting Robsons photos, probably the finest ■■■■■■■■ haulier after Stobart & Jenkinsons.

Many thanks , McWilliam , for displaying these -and all others too- photographs of Robson`s of Carlisle.
I may be wrong , but the Ford Thames Trader MHH 197 appears to have been photographed on the southern approach
( A6 ) into Kendal , close to the ■■■■ & Dolphin pub. This would obviously be before the M6 Motorway took the heavy traffic
away from Kendal and over Shap Fell.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Hi Harry, The Guy in question was owned by Bewick’s pal Percy Unsworth from about Lindal I think, no doubt he will put us right when he sees this photo, I can remember seeing the wagon often loading in Robsons yard at Durranhill.
Cheers, Leyland 600

Hi Mc William, I am not sure if there was a connection between Hodgsons and Robsons, Hodgsons had a yard at the easternmost end of Greystone Rd in Carlisle and were engaged in distributing Shell oils and grease etc I cannot remember what other traffic they had but vividly recall them turning off London Rd down Brook St towards their depot in the mid 1950s when I worked at Cowans Sheldons the cranemakers when my mate and I used to stand outside the works at lunchtime watching all the wagons travelling north and south on the old A6 in pre motorway days. What I would give to have had a digital camera then.
Cheers, Leyland 600.

hiya,
Thanks for that “L600” I thought it was unusual to see one of Robbo’s with anything
other than a local registration number, was it in the maroon and cream livery ■■.
