Yes Bewick, I occasionally loaded off Robsons when I needed to get down the road to pick up a load for my own customer in some far off location. Their rates were never that good and were usually used as a last resort. BRS at Howgate was a much better source of work when looking for outward traffic. I still keep in touch with the former Howgate manager who looked after his owner driver subcontractors knowing that if an urgent load needed to be delivered on time the only sure way was to engage the Ireby fliers plus a few more local lads including myself with same outlook.

Was loading up yesterday afternoon when I went to work

HI, Folks , Are Millicans still going i remember them bringing logs into Bowaters E/PORT day and night a lot of ridgeds 4 6 wheelers also a lot of ERF artics our firm used to load back for them sometimes ,They used to turn the back stack accross the lorry so you had a good back stack to rope , No straps or health and saftey in them days, abit of usless info , Cheers Barry

Now called Miller based in Lockerbie mainly red Mercs, have probably 80 vehicles.

Theres two of these Scanias , " Leyland600" . Both look alike in the same fleet colours. The other one has a bank of rooftoplights ; extra chrome ; etc,...........and is driven by a hard-working lass. Now,.......steady on, "Leyland600"................... :laughing: ,.......put that walking stick inlow axle` . :unamused:

Shuttleworth’s quite often collect from the lads across from us, usually it’s the F plated ERF though. A fleet thats paid for itself twice over I bet, but nothing wrong with that!
