This picture show’s why you should keep taking photos CG. Only 10 years or so since I took it
but the DAF will be long gone. Not many 4x2 units on general haulage these days.
Thankyou Truckfing marra, I won’t be stopping any time soon !!!
I couldn’t tell you the last time I saw an 4 x 2 either!!!

I have always thought these have an impressive looking fleet from ■■■■■■■■
Hi Dave,
They have a lot on parcel trunking and milk tanker work as i know, don’t know
what else they do.
Dont think they will have this now

Cheers Malc.
They still do livestock and general haulage, also a national fork lift delivery/collection service among other things. Read up about them recently.
Cheers Dave.

Here’s an example of the livestock side and by the look of the bumper maybe they go
over the water. Did they also have a Hino dealership at one time? I have pictures of a
couple of Hino demonstrators with Armstrong’s name on them.

They are agents for Hino and Isusu David, with a place in Glasgow as well.
Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Often wondered how many motors Robson’s had in their heyday being
a Scottish runner in my early days as a driver found them to be very
prolific and never a day went by without seeing several, funny how a
huge company can vanish virtually overnight like they did.
thanks harry, long retired.

Not just sure how many motors Robsons ran in their hayday “H” but they just disappeared into United Glass on takeover and their head office was relocated to Flitwick in Bedfordshire,Stan and George retired and the new MD was a UG man called Herbert Nettleship.Cheers Dennis.
Hi Bewick, at the time of Stan’s sell out to United Glass the fleet was reckoned to be about 180 vehicles which I guess would be about right.
Cheers, Leyland 600

Thanks for the info L600,did you ever sub a load or two off Robsons ? It’s a pity that Percy Unsworth from Cartmel dosen’t come on to TN,now he could give “chapter and verse” on Robsons operations during during his time as a sub-contractor in the 50’s/60’s and 70’s.Cheers Bewick.
