This ■■■■■■■■ hauliers well-presented Scania was parked in Brough, a couple of miles from Warcop , over Easter weekend, when I took the photograph. Maybe too far from ■■■■■■■■ Gills hometown for him to expand on any details.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Hello CWM

Certainly not to far marra for me to explain further!

According to my records, Heron run 4 Scania R Topline’s ( 3 R620’s and 1 R560).

They work for T R Handley on bulk haulage work out of Shap Quarry.

They company seems to buy all its trucks new and sell them on privately and they seem to buy new tippers
too.

Hope this helps marra

Kindest regards
CG

Herons have walking floors as well as tippers and the main of the work is through hastings at penrith

Hi “Cochrane 798” ,
Welcome to TNUK., and enjoy .
Thanks for the info ., re: Heron.I know there is a farming family of the same name in Warcop , so possibly this is of the same.

Sometimes “■■■■■■■■ Gill” types fantasy and guesswork rather than obtain the full facts beforehand. :frowning:
He`s stuck in his cocoon in west ■■■■■■■ , and is unable to break from that shell, therefore we must allow for his misgivings. :frowning:

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Gess work CWM  ■■?

I’ve only seen a Heron with a walking floor the other day marra so I didn’t know that

All my information is gained through talking to drivers, spotters and making observations!!!

Some gess work!!

Kindest regards
CG

Hi “■■■■■■■■ Gill” ,
Have you ever considered talking directly to the OWNERS of these fleets :unamused:
They are the ones who can ( or maybe reserve ) the full facts . This would reduce your guessing game on TNUK.
Also , these owners might realise your (knowledge  ) of transport , and then explain to you the day-to-day scheduling involved.

This possible employment opportunity could be the start to your destiny as a haulier.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Look CWM,you want a bit of a reality check :open_mouth: because you are assuming that CG thinks along the same lines as yourself when,in fact,I would suggest he is a reet pain in the ■■■ and if he had come hanging around our depot I’d have set the Rottweiler on him and his Ilk :sunglasses: I’ve never heard such a load of Bollox,“I get my info off drivers, other spotters (oh yea!) and by my own observations” which equates to the BS CG puts onto the TN site, say no more then,I rest my case so “dinna boil yer watter” CWM he’s only a daft lad still wet be’hint the lugs eh! Cheers Dennis.

Hi Dennis ,
My (secret  ) advice to " C.G." is that when he contacts the hauliers direct ,…is that hes told exactly where to go :unamused:  . It was nobbut a wind-up to him , and you and I can have peace of mind that he wont be telephoning either of us .
Mind you , feel sorry for the unfortunate hauliers who could get the calls.

Have a (peaceful  :sunglasses: ) weekend.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Thanks for the kind words Dave (the Renegade). I have been taking photos for a lot more years than I care to remember but I do remember once when Ernie Moore had an old Albion Reiver (with the exposed radiator, not sure of the model number). I saw it every morning when I went to pick up my paper bag at the village shop and then one morning there was a brand new ERF in it’s place. I rushed home to get my camera. Wish I had taken the Albion. I was lucky because I then worked in the trade and heard a lot of gossip but I had no chance to repeat things wrongly like CG has. Maybe drivers wind him up or tell fibs and then he puts it on here in good faith and then people jump down his throat. It is a good thing that he takes an interest. When I started taking slides I contacted a lot of hauliers about visiting their yards. I never turned up out of the blue and always had a nice response and a welcome when I got there. Several have shown me where the keys are and told me to move any I want but I haven’t done that, I think it is going a bit too far.
When I first started there was only the Commercial Motor to get information and they were not geared up for spotters. I sat by the motorway at the bottom of the village any chance I got and even tried taking pictures then but neither me or my camera were up to that.

Super photo’s as always David. I am lucky in the fact that most of the haulage people know me, but then I am three times+ CG’s age. Its good to see a young bloke with an interest in lorries, far better than some of the things that some young people get up to. Or as in some cases don’t bother to do anything other than loaf about.
Cheers Dave.

here’s a few photo’s of David Buckles E.R.F.'s of days gone by and one of Trotters Foden and lastly Dave Atkinson Peterbilt. regards prattman.

Hi CG,
No one has ever got everything right. I certainly haven’t,and anyone who says they have are liars !
Keep taking an interest in lorries and the road haulage industry, its been a lifelong passion of mine growing up with my Dad being a lorry driver, then driving them myself.
I am still involved in road haulage as a CPC holder for three hauliers, and have a lot of mates in the haulage industry. You could certainly do worse. Keep taking your photo’s and posting them on TNUK.
I and many others get a lot of pleasure looking at them.
Cheers Dave.

He`s probably gone to the Shops to buy a big bone for your guard - sorry - pet dog , Dennis.

This picture show’s why you should keep taking photos CG. Only 10 years or so since I took it
but the DAF will be long gone. Not many 4x2 units on general haulage these days.
