Happy days, niver forgitten eh! Cheers Dennis.

Aye the good old days & neets, Nee Satnavs or mobile phones in them days Eh, Not even a Chicken Box either, These young driver drivers of to-day will never ever know what it was like in those days, Because when you mention the things and conditions that we had to work in They think we are taking the ■■■■, But of course we cant blame them for the way they have been taught & all the new regs. they have to adheed too, But never mind for the ones like us that are still about & can remember the good old days, Its a great feeling for me as I worked with the best blokes you could ever get Hard men but great men who went to work to earn money regardless of how the job went we just got stuck in & worked to-gether, Happy Long Gone Days But Never to be forgotten, Regards Larry.

According to photographs and accompanying written history posted on the windows of this Leyland Comet , Dover & Sons
operated this type of tippers from their premises at Keswick .

Are you baiting me ■■■■■■■■ Gill for a response to your continued posting of modern trucks on an ‘old time lorries’ forum… I do find the constant posting of modern vehicles is letting the ■■■■■■■■ thread down… Being 41 years old i am more interested in the trucks i saw growing up than i am of the trucks on the road now… if i want to be a spotter to look at modern trucks/fleets etc i’ll have a look on flickr, where i believe more people wil like to see your modern truck pics…

Sorry for taking so long to respond,

Hello nelly1972

Let’s get a few things straight here marra

  1. I (another others who post modern truck photos) are not posting them all the time and it certainly does not let this thread down

  2. I have no problem with you not been interested in looking at modern trucks but let’s just remember here marra that others DO!!

I have already suggested that you simply scroll past them so why not do that??

  1. No, I wasn’t “baiting” you for a response to mine (and others) “continued posting of modern trucks”.

  2. WHY just blame me for the posting of modern truck photos■■?

I am certainly not the only one and I certainly will not be the last (Thank God)

Does the fact that other’s on this thread post modern truck photos not suggest something to you■■?

And, to finish off, I will repeat to you something I asked you earlier:

What is wrong with a thread that looks at both Modern & Classic Truck photos■■?

Kindest regards
CG

Blah blah blah…

i was not the first to mention the amount of modern truck pics being posted & i did’nt mention you in my original post, yet you seem fit to single me out

I do feel privileged that you feel i was directing my original comments at yourself, would hate to think my comment fell on deaf ears… Me & my son did have a chuckle reading through your bullet points

i originally signed upto this forum so i could view the pics of local companies through the years, bring back memories of trucks i use to see & wish i could drive once i got my class 1, slowly but surely there is now more moden pics being posted than old nostalgic ones (maybe slightly exagerated)… anybody can correct me if i’m wrong but the old pics bring up more follow on comments from lads that relive old memories…

the dumfries transport group has my photos on file all taken between 1986 & 1996 & will be organising a slide show for me to present, CG you are more than welcome to come along once the dates are confirmed, would hate to think you are going to judge my character without meeting me haha

Hi “nelly1972”.
I notice that you have only singled-out ■■■■■■■■ Gill in reference to your recent comments, - re: older photographs.
Could you please confirm just how many ( ) old-time photographs you have posted on here -or , indeed anywhere
on TNUK - since you joined in late 2010 ? I , and many others , would like to see them.
Perhaps we haven`t been looking on the correct threads … :frowning: :unamused:
If the Dumfries Transport Group have your 1986 to 1996 photos , then you are most welcome to show all your pre-1986
photos on here. After all ,…there were plenty of wagons on the roads before 1986.

We all await your valuable pre-1986 photographs to be shown on TNUK.
You could then explain to your son all the makes/companies that were in existence “before Daddy was a teenager” . :sunglasses: :sunglasses:
Your Sonny-boy could then have another laugh.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

hiya,
With reference to the above posts, myself being of very limited intelligence
and also suffering technophobia, I don’t have photo’s or if I did have my
ability to post them on here is zero, I have been shown but I just can’t grasp
the knack of doing it so before the streams of instructions start to flow in
my direction it would be a futile exercise on your part it would be a case of
in one ear and out the other, so the reason for this post is to say thanks to
all of you people who go to the trouble of putting the pics on for my pleasure
and no doubt countless others as well, so if the lorries where made in the 1930s
(incidentally I drove a 1939 eight wheeled Maudslay very early in my career in
1957), or rolled off some assembly line only yesterday to me it is matterless I
enjoy everything I see, so all you technogeeks keep up the good work, please.
thanks harry, long retired.

While we all await “nelly1972” to sort through his boxfulls of pre-1986 trucks-in-photo , heres one for starters` .

With the full restoration completed , this Bedford ( O X/Y ? ) shares both a (old ) ■■■■■■■■■■ reg. no., and likewise , a
pre-■■■■■■■ address of Longtown.

It was photographed , having a rest , at Brough , Easter Weekend.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Hello nelly1972

That’s right, be ignorant why don’t you

Ok, you’re not the first to mention it but you “single” out me for some reason as the main culprit when they are many others who post modern truck photos

Well CWM, I can answer this question for you:

“Could you please confirm just how many ( ) old-time photographs you have posted on here -or , indeed anywhere
on TNUK - since you joined in late 2010 ?”

After trawling through all of nelly1972’s posts, he hasn’t posted ANY photos modern or classic
You have posted plenty of comments but NO photos   !

Your quite happy to complain about all the modern photos on the thread but you HAVEN’T contributed any of your “beloved” classic photos to the thread!

So, you haven’t done anything to change what you consider wrong about this thread?

Therefore I propose that if you haven’t any classic photos of ■■■■■■■■ Lorries to post on this thread you apologise to all the people who do actually post modern and classic photos on this thread.

I have no objection to you saying what you think but the way you have gone about it wasn’t nice and your complaint could have been put across in way which doesn’t put other members noses out of joint and cause other members such as my self to post angry comments on the thread.

I will be interested to see what your response it to this and whether you actually start posting some photos

Kindest regards
CG
