Culina puts drivers first.! !!

dozy:
When I did chilled they mostly had volvos , I can’t see how replacing them with dafs is looking after there drivers , more like saving money ,have the drivers been consulted on what trucks they’d prefer  .
N.b or are these replacing the mercs they had , no experience of them so dafs might be better , but daf better than a volvo , do me a favour .

Pretty much anything is better than a Merc. Quite like DAF’s myself.

I see they are advertising for 48hour shifts what happens after 48hrs, is it banked hours or paid. What sort of start times are the day shifts on and what sort of hours do you work a day. Do you work a 5 out of 7 rota. Are you paid for your breaks, are the deliveries to RDC,s or shops. Just trying to get a look into the job as I am going for an interview two weeks Saturday and I think you get a more honest opinion from a driver who as been there. Thanks

As I said you’re salaried so if you go over 48 hrs then hard luck, overtime is only on days offf, no shops involved but mainly RDC and small catering companies etc, start times are 24 hrs a day as its chilled work, shifts will be 5 x 2 but will include a weekend day or 4 x 2, you’re not pushed too hard maybe averaging 10.5 hrs a day but will have a lot of down time waiting for collections and waiting at RDC’s. Basically it’s very easy work but your driving prowess will be monitored.

I was offered a job at the new Salford depot but they moved the start times from 3-6 am to 4-10am (window time has moved from 3 to 6 hours apart), from Monday to Friday to any 5 from 7. what’s a normal days work? is 10.5hrs including poa time?

Can’t help with that question i’m afraid, terrible start window though you need to get that sorted.

We were once consulted over company truck choice when I was on tankers years back.we tried seddon Atkinson Erf Volvo and scania which were all fine for the job and paper work completed saying so.the 5th choice was 1834 SK mercs with eps gear boxes and with the fuel surging about it the trailers when approaching junctions or roundabouts the gear box didn"t know wether to ■■■■ shave or haircut so we rejected these as unsuitable. Three months later the big fleet of mercs arrived with 4 company cars FOC for the duration of the contract for those that signed it.never botherd with consultation scince
