When I did chilled they mostly had volvos , I can’t see how replacing them with dafs is looking after there drivers , more like saving money ,have the drivers been consulted on what trucks they’d prefer .
N.b or are these replacing the mercs they had , no experience of them so dafs might be better , but daf better than a volvo , do me a favour .
So you have tramped in a volvo, and in a DAF? Do you have the slightest idea how much space you get in a SSC? A Volvo is cramped in comparison. I take the slightly less sophisticated Arse tonic gearbox any day , with the SSC…
But what do I know.
Well you could settle for a Topline Scania, beat the other 2 hands down and the latest opticruise (2 pedal) is pretty good
Though I will say that now the quarter light bar has gone from the side windows, I might tolerate a DAF.

So that means that if you had a good job with the right wages and conditions and the company ran DAFs you would give that all up leave and drive a Volvo with poorer conditions etc !!!.
The Dozy 1 doesn’t seem to have replied
But if the Pay is right, I’d drive a Premium, oh I did
And as for not replying I’ve a bloody life , and even when I do post it can take days for the moderators to pass the bloody reply , anyway I’ve cancelled the Mrs birthday meal so I can be at your becon and call
At Intermontana we had 3 Drivers as Spokesman dealing with the Big Boss.
Boss called them in an told them wot offer he got for which Truck to buy.
Driver decided moving on from 372 MAN to 420 and not an other Make.
So the Boss did.
All my expenses i paid with Bonus for saving Fuel and Road Tax. Just as there is the Talk about " Put the Driver First"

Improvements to working conditions , wages , expensive motors etc must come at a price !!!.
Yep. If you want a decent truck and wages they expect them to be driven and treated decently. Its not hard to drive in a way that keeps them happy although tipper drivers are likely to struggle.
I worked there for nearly 7 yrs all they want is for you to treat the kit with respect they even supply all the cleaning kit, don’t leave the engine idling while you chat to your mate, don’t rev the hell out of it just drive it as if it was your motor and if anything breaks or falls off report it, and don’t speed.
I visit the Avonmouth depot regularly and the trucks are always tidy and damage free, which for a large fleet operator is quite an achievement.
Says a lot about how the company is run, wish my place was like it.
I worked for Culina on the agency for about 12months (yes guys shockingly I didn’t always walk in a straight line).
Found them no bother at all, nice clean motors friendly debagging at the end of the day.
Gave me a load of redbull once when I did some shunting for them as the shunter had a family emergency.
At the time agency work suited me for the flexibility and 2am calls that my jobs been cancelled.

If they were serious about putting drivers first they might consider getting rid of that dreadful Prinz dual fuel system.
Just saying…
Yes it was hard work, it didn’t help that our nearest place to gas up from Bristol was Bridgwater believe it or not, mind you the gas trucks at Asda seem to play up too

What was wrong with Aust?
It had to be a particular supplier and the nearest was Bridgwater then Daventry !!

Well originally we never had any gas trucks they were at Haverhill and M.D which had their own gas tank so that was easy then after a year or so someone decided to spread the gas trucks around to various depots as they never had a good range so we copped 4 of them but with no real means of gassing them up.

The new volvo isnt a patch on the older ones
We have 65 and 61 plate FH460’s the older units seem more solidly built then the new ones, steering seems a bit light on the 65’s.
But new ones are ■■■■ comfy tho tbh, our 65’s have 120000km plus, the times I have got in a new 1 and tried to put the key in the normal place not the left of the wheel lol

Hello bald bloke is there any chance ot pm me so I can ask a couple of questions about culina. Thanks fella
Sorry but don’t do pm’s, but £30,200 salaried, no sick pay, overtime on day off, not pushed too hard, company pay 3% pension, various start times but you’ll have a 3 hr start window, keep your head down and you’ll get left alone, driving performances are monitored but again drive sensibly and you’ll be fine, some nights out may be required, good kit, they run strictly legal, anything else ?.

on nights at Avonmouth you Park up on 12hrs max shift time for night drivers
Thanks bald bloke
I see they are advertising for 48hour shifts what happens after 48hrs, is it banked hours or paid. What sort of start times are the day shifts on and what sort of hours do you work a day. Do you work a 5 out of 7 rota. Are you paid for your breaks, are the deliveries to RDC,s or shops. Just trying to get a look into the job as I am going for an interview two weeks Saturday and I think you get a more honest opinion from a driver who as been there. Thanks
