Was just wondering how things are in Spain with the whole vegetables of death problem. Must have really hit work. And now the Germans admit it wasn’t cucumbers. Even I looked at some vegetables in my fridge earlier to see if they were Spanish! None were though.
WTF You on about now?
How can you tell if they were Spanish, do they say Hola as you open the lid?
Bit of a nightmare trying to source one leaking sewage pipe in the whole of Spain to find Juan has grown some dodgy veg in his greenhouse.
Bit worrying for the ladies too I imagine

Just for anybody who thinks I’ve gone doolally
I feel sorry for the drivers of comotrans, transmarfil and cotravelma as they do mainly cucumbers from motril to germany and now its just stopped dead.
as soon as the germans said that the bug was in cucumbers from spain they stopped all sales and transport which the growers representative said last night on the tv the industry is worth 200 million euro a week to spain, now the germans are backtracking but its too late the stigma has now stuck.
all the affected people were in hamburg so it could have been picked up from the warehouse or even one single truck

Everything in our allotment comes from Derbyshire, haven’t got a clue where the seeds came from though!
Spain are going to claim compensation for the loss of the growers revenue from the German Government but in retaliation they have hidden all the deck chairs.
Meanwhile Health Authorities throughout the World are advising consumers to wash their fruit and veg before serving it Isn’t this primary school stuff?
Can you wash E Coli off with water?
Anyone that has driven in southern Spain would have seen the large areas of the plastic green houses for the veg packing houses, off topic, but it is only the immigrant workers that will work under the carciogenic plastic, the toxic fumes in the summer must be bad for the health.

Spain mulls action against Hamburg for E.coli blame
(Reuters) - Spain said on Wednesday it was considering legal action against German regional authorities for blaming its produce for an E. coli outbreak that has killed 16 people in Germany, Sweden and other countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba recalled that on May 26 health authorities in the German state of Hamburg said Spanish cucumbers were found to be contaminated with E.coli, but did not show Spain was the source of the strain.
“There has never been a case of this nature in Spain, which means the bacteria is not in Spain,” Rubalcaba told Cadena Ser, Spain’s most listened-to radio station.
“We do not rule out taking action against authorities which have cast doubt on the quality of our produce, so action may be taken against the authorities, in this case, of Hamburg,” he added.
German officials admitted on Tuesday that the latest tests showed the cucumbers did not carry the dangerous bacteria strain connected to the outbreak.
In the meanwhile, Spanish farmers say lost sales are costing them 200 million euros a week and the crisis could put 70,000 out of work in a country which already has the highest unemployment rate in the European Union.

That is the same CARCINOGENIC plastic that growers & packers everywhere in the world wraps food up in Toby
Its the reaction of the plastic properties and sunlight, with ref to the green houses, that may not be safe to work underneath.
some of our drivers regularly load in a company called sotrafa in el ejido with the plastic they use for growing tunnels and they deliver to farms all over the UK but if its safe for the UK farming industry its the same plastic used here in spain.
a lot of immigrants do work in the agriculture industry but not because they are treated as expendible under the “killer plastic” its because there is a lot of work but doesn’t pay very well, just like the immigrants who pick the fruit in the UK
Sorry wheel nut,i have sent you a pm for WBIS,and now to WBIS,do you know of any firms looking for a driver,i have the dcpc, adr in tankers/packages,can do weeks away, fluent in Spanish and French, gracias senor.

Do you think there’s a Fruit Pickers forum somewhere with all the locals complaining that they “took our jobs” or “there fruit picking training is a joke compared to ours”
They should form some sort of protest and march on Madrid

to be blunt toby no, unemployment here is over 21% and being fluent in spanish now is irrelevant as most hauliers prefer romanians and bulgarians as they are prepared to live in their trucks for months on end for 1200euro a month
you’d be better off finding a job with a UK haulier IMHO.
our company has a waiting list which has a few names on and it doesn’t harm to put your name down but we’ve only lost one driver in 4 years and thats because he’s recently moved back to the UK to live.
also you need to think about your tax situation, to work in spain you would need to have a spanish ID and SS no. which means you’d do a tax return every year here but if you lived in the UK you’d get hammered because you’d have no tax deductable expenses here like housing or suchlike.
Gracias,i have a Portuguese residents permit, and their tax number,of which got me in some bother on the IP5,to cut a boring old yarn short,to avoid paying at the road side for a speeding fine, about 5 kms over the 80 kms speed limit,of which the porkers were really hot on,i gave them my Porto address thinking they would do nothing about it.
Several months later, the bailifs emptied the flat of all its furniture,a lesson learnt there, dont you think, should have just paid the 5000 escudoe fine, with the hassle avoided,i had the cash on me,what a twunt i was.
I heard that the out of work rate in Spain was 43%.

its 43% among the young, the ones who live at home with parents until well into their 20’s and even though are unemployed its unbelievable how many youngsters drive around in new cars mostly audi’s
