I feel sorry for the drivers of comotrans, transmarfil and cotravelma as they do mainly cucumbers from motril to germany and now its just stopped dead.
as soon as the germans said that the bug was in cucumbers from spain they stopped all sales and transport which the growers representative said last night on the tv the industry is worth 200 million euro a week to spain, now the germans are backtracking but its too late the stigma has now stuck.
all the affected people were in hamburg so it could have been picked up from the warehouse or even one single truck
it could have been worse… it could have been british beef.
when i read the title of this thread, i couldn’t stop thinking about ■■■■.
i think it’s about time the EU brought in a law to combat these problems.
the law should make all companies that load and unload fresh produce, and meat, responsible for washing the inside of trailers. this should be done with detergents.
how many times have we had to cut corners by not washing out a fridge? i’ve lost count.
Coffeeholic:
Turns out it was a special variety of Spanish cucumber known as German Grown Bean Sprouts that was to blame.
Wierd that, in all my years doing Spain I never loaded any of them, mind you, I never did any of those hens teeth or glider engines a mate of mine used to brag about!!

I’ve never had to cut corners by not washing out a fridge. Maybe you should find a better company to work for
The annual call by the Cotton Wool Brigade came last night after a rider was killed at the TT
They want all motorsports banned and the IOM TT closed down immediately, although it is very sad when a rider or passenger dies I know several riders personally and everyone of them does the TT because they love it.
My reply to these people is that the Isle of Man TT mountain course is safer than eating Beansprouts .
The Sarge:
Who’s died in the TT? Very sad, but as you say, we ride 'em coz we love 'em.
34yr old Irish rider Derek Brien was killed in the Supersport 600 race, I think he was in 9th place when he lost controll of his bike.
I have raced in the IOM and simply didn’t enjoy the experience, I have lost too many friends who’ve raced there over the years, but I’ve also lost two very good friends racing at English short circuits in the last 12 years. Part of the attraction to both riders and spectators is the danger, I’m not saying that ‘spekkies’ go to see people get killed or mamed, but the speed and inherrant danger is a very large part of the sport and even I enjoy a good crash, but only when nbody gets hurt.
“ACU Events Ltd regret to announce that sidecar competitor Bill Currie, 67, from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire and his passenger Kevin Morgan, 59, from Shrewsbury were both killed during the second sidecar qualifying session at the 2011 Isle of Man TT Races following an incident at Ballacrye in the North of the Island.”
Bill Currie was a well respected driver who had been racing since 1969 where he got a third place on the podium. Sponsored by the great Bill Smith. He was 8th fastest in 2010. He will be sadly missed
