Crow Carrying

Hi there anyone got any photos of Crow’s ?

There are good photos on the previous pages, esp 2 & 4

Driver-Once-More:
sitting against the wall (the one with grey hair) is Frank Egan, who worked out of the Greengate depot

Found an even older pic of dad, 5 points to anyone who can name the location. LOL oh, and which is dad and which is me?

Rivington Lodge. :bulb:

wasn’t built then. Anyway, miles away from there.

Sorry, I meant Rivington reservoir  and if it’s miles away then it won’t be Daisy ■■■■.

Not the Scammell that you requested but here’s an early 70s Scania in Crow colours (from a Scania Brochure).

Sniffy:
I may be asking the obvious, but where did the name originate from ■■

Hi Sniffy The name Crow Carrying Company Ltd came from their promise to deliver it “As the Crow Flies” faster and better, and later changed the Logo with a more updated one

I know this is an old post, but thought I’d chime in. The Crow Carrying Company was founded by Latimer Crow and takes its name from the family. The “As the Crow Flies” promise came from the name of the company, not the other way round.

Latimer Crow was my great, great, great Uncle. We know quite a lot about the family history, but not a lot about the history of the Company he founded, so this thread is great. Really interesting to read all the reminiscences of Crow Carrying.

There is a bit of old film here showing a couple of Crows wagons and drivers from Bob York.

For anyone interested in Crows, there is a book just been released available on Amazon, I saw it advertised in Roadscene magazine. Title is "AS THE CROW FLY, The Story of CROW CARRYING COMPANY LTD, 1920-1985, by CLINTON YORK. Its what I call a great nostalgia book, a brief but interesting history of the company, with lots of personal details of the drivers & the wagons they drove, with quite a comprehensive Fleet list etc in the back for people who are into that type of thing. Lots of photos, some a bit grainy but that doesn’t matter, of real interest to people like myself with mainly a Tanker background, at about £15 I think its worth the money. Regards Chris

Is this a Crow Carrying motor?
