Boss asked me today if I would do a trip to France in a couple of weeks.
Does anyone know if im likely to encounter problems at the border because of my record which isn’t yet ‘spent’?
Boss doesn’t know about said record and I don’t want to have to tell him the reason I can’t go is because of that.
Also ■■■■■■■■ myself as its my first trip over… Arrrrggghhh!

Depends what the offence was.
If it was for smuggling I would expect to have the vehicle turned out by HMRC on your return.

Unless it is war crimes or arson in a naval dockyard I wouldn’t worry. If it is for smuggling, just be careful you wear clean pants on that day.
Going to France is no different from South Wales now, except not even the Ethiopian immigrants want to go there.
if it was smuggling, facilitation of illegal immigrants, or anything connected with terrorism. then they will speak to you. if you are over the limit with tobacco, booze, cigarettes, or you have a small amount of weed left over from another driver. then expect to be strip searched, and interviewed.
however, they arn’t bothered about anything else. so stop worrying, and have a good trip.
what is on your record? is it good?
Don’t do a run to the USA as you will certainly be turned away there. The question on the visa waiver form have you been convicted of a crime of moral turpitude is one that will stop you in your tracks. What the hell does that mean ■■? I’ve been convicted of some things, but never that…
Thanks for the replies, sounds like I’ll be ok then as its not related to terrorism or smuggling

If you’ve been released from prison and have license conditions then that could be a problem for you, License’s are not my area but I think(could be wrong, I will find out the answer) you are not allowed to leave the country without permission if you are on any kind of license from prison whereby you have to report weekly to a probation office.

It wasn’t a custodial sentence, but I do have to inform probation if I leave the country for longer than 3 days
