Just wait till deiseldog999 sees it and give us his two cents. I bet he’ll find a reason to defend it!

dang tooting there…
you cant see what the 2 drivers can see on the road ahead.you cant see the lead up to the 2 of them prior to coming round the bend.the road must be clear otherwise truckie wouldn’t have floored it to get past fannyvanman…the van drivers obviously a fanny for driving slow enough to let truckie get behind him wanting past, and who hasn’t overtaken some ditherer on a double white line before…apart from a smack on the wrist if truckie gets caught for overtaking, then it can look like fannyinavan brake checked him not expecting to be overtaken then bottled it…the crossings open so he could no doubt have stopped and ate his sarnies without mishap, nothing to see here folks…move along.
So what you are saying dieseldog999 is that you would do exactly the same as the artic in the clip?
Please also tell everyone what the van driver is doing wrong because I can assure you he will not be prosecuted for anything in that clip.
The truck driver will definitely lose his licence though. That is certain.

I’m struggling to see exactly why the van driver felt the need to stop on the level crossing based on the video.
if an artic started to overtake me here (google streetview) I would slow down too; ignoring the level crossing and the double whites for a moment, there is an entrance to a car park on the right then properties very close to the road on the right, anyone pulls out or steps out, the artic will quickly move back left, best not to be running alongside him. Even without the level crossing and double whites, that is a very risky place to overtake.

I wouldnt see it as a big deal, you see worse every week with no incidents.he will only be prosecuted for other than overtaking on a double solid line due to the fact itl all get blown out of proportion by the camera/media etc.similar to the flipflop getting crucified for joining the m toll from the off ramp,he wasnt really in anyones road, but because it was on cam and the road commander brigade joined in,then he got reamed bigtime.youve no knowledge of the 2 of them prior to what the camera sees. the truck wouldn’t be overtaking the van unless he had reason to be doing so,hence the van drivers a fanny and truckie had a place to go and just went for it instead of slowing down and crawling over the crossing hump…theres plenty of times il overtake on double lines if I think its ok,no biggy.its only a problem to varying degrees if you get caught.the last time I got caught for it,i showed him my paddy licence, got some verbal, and byebye cos he couldn’t be bothered to arrest me.( by this time I had passed the attitude test and he was ok with that) fortunately for me,he never bothered to check if I had a uk licence also otherwise it may have been a different story.
I don’t think the authorities found this footage on their own. The van driver is making out the lorry forced him to stop on the level crossing but there’s no evidence of that in the vid and he didn’t cut back in too early.
Looking at that streetview link I can see even less reason to stop.
Some stuff had gone on before and the van driver has just done this as a ■■■ for tat. This has been wildly overblown it’s worse case crossing a solid white which is hardly crime of the century.
With no oncoming traffic and the crossing not flashing no-one was ever likely to die and as it turns out they didn’t either.
I probably wouldn’t make a habit of crossing solid whites on a level crossing normally but if I needed the loo and knew it was the only overtaking spot for a few miles then you betcha.
Sometimes I even jump traffic lights too, that don’t have sensors, on motorway junction roundabouts in the early morning when there is no other traffic but I freely admit to being a very bad man.

.
As per the article, no one has spoken to the van driver, so as of yet we don’t know why he was driving so slowly (i make it 14mph) may be he was looking for something and more than happy for the lorry to pass.
I do agree with you that the news article is wildly sensationalised and blown completely out of all proportions by the lady police officer.

Are you lot on a wind up or are you really so biased you believe the van was being a problem and the actions of the truck were over sensationalised?
Doing 14mph if that is what he was doing on the approach to an uneven level crossing is actually quite normal.
As far as the clip is concerned the van driver has done absolutely nothing wrong and the truck driver is totally out of order.
Whatever happened before the clip( if anything did happen ) does not give the truck driver the right to drive dangerously.
Anyone who thinks that sort of driving is acceptable should not be on the road and are a great danger to themselves and other road users.
Do you not have anything better to do Albion? Like head a meeting of your local community litter pick club or something?
Nobody gives a flying [zb] about your constant moaning about driving standards.

It seems like this is the sort of attitude we have on our roads these days. Nobody gives a [zb] and it shows when you see clowns like the one in the clip.
Well maybe you do not care if these types wipe out innocent people but I do. Just hope one of then does not wipe out anybody you know one day.
By the way forums are for giving opinions something you very rarely do so I will continue as I have as much right as you to be on here.
Fair enough mate. Here’s an opinion.
You are a sanctimonious ■■■.
Think what you want. I do not give a [zb].
That went well.

It was a missunderstanding honest. What I actually said was “im going to tuck you in bed and look at your clock”
I’m local to this crossing, the crossing has a 5mph limit on it cos it ■■■■■■■ rough as hell.
This is from last year, and it’s not my filming.
I’ll go over it tomorrow and film it?
Thanks for confirming my beliefs philgor.
It’s fairly obvious though from a non biased view.
It really is quite sad that some get irratated when you point out how dangerous a driver is. Even worse when they try to blame the other driver because one of their own is totally irresponsible.
It seems to be a typical reaction on here if a lorry driver does something wrong it’s all a big joke but any other type of driver makes the slightest mistake and they are slagged for evermore.
Pathetic.
No wonder lorry drivers are hated nationwide.
