The only reason I would have my curtains like that is if I drove a scania, I wouldn’t want anyone to see me driving one of those heaps of ■■■.
I believe they play with them selves whilst driving or have ■■■■■■■■■ ,diiiiiirrtttyyyyyy gits
I pull mine across when I’m on the phone or when I’m making a sandwich on the motorway.
I have mine across when I don’t want people to see me watching the dvd on the dashboard laptop while cooking my breakfast on the stove, while I’m travelling.
Ken.
Interesting comments. Some humorous some ridiculous. Seems MOST people on this thread take it light heartedly ha ha and do not see the serious side of having curtains pulled across.
I asked a driver why he did it once and he replied: “what the F**K has it got to do with you anyway. It’s so the law cant see me”… says it all really.
Anyway here is my contribution. READ CAREFULLY…
These photos have NOT been photoshopped!
It was a sunny morning. 11.20am on Thursday 31 Jan 2013.
I overtook this SAINSBURYS truck on the M25 between M11 junc27 and A12 junc28.
HE WAS DOING 50 MPH AT THE TIME!!!
my passenger took these photos…
and before you say anything, yes I have little frills on my curtains but they are always pulled back.
I have tried contacting SAINSBURYS but there is nowhere to complain about their truck driving standards.
Does anyone have a depot number please■■?
SAINSBURYS are not in the “hows my driving” scheme anymore and when the lovely girl in the “service department complaints office” heard my point, she thought I was complaining about household curtains. She tried to put me through to “HABERDASHERY” seriously!

I’d say that was a subbie rarther than an actual Sainsbury’s truck. Round here all Sainsbury’s are TGAs or Axors, and I doubt you’d get Globetrotters in that work!

That’s not a subbie that’s a sainsburys unit.
In one motor I had, there was nothing to hold back the passenger side curtain. After a few presses of the brake pedal, it would be all the way forward.
I think I cured it with a cable tie in the end.
Probably just trying to stop himself being blinded by the sun.

i passed a tipper driver today at aroundabout who was having to lean pretty much over the steering wheel to see when it was clear and it wasa day cab.

Cue certain TNUK’ers saying “why would you grass him up, he was only earning an “honest” days living”
Why SHOULDN’T he be reported, the [zb]?
And breathe…
One of my, ahem, ‘colleagues’ has fancy dan curtains pulled forward, and stoppers in place so you can’t move them back. I occasionally to his motor on a Saturday morning, if he has hung the job out so he can’t tip on a Friday. My first job is to force them right back. Safety is paramount!
Incidentally he is our health and safety fast drivers rep. I kid yee not.

Of course your “passenger” took those
. I guess your passenger always sits on the gear stick, right? Or shall we just cut the BS and admit that you took it as your were driving, with your arm outstretched?
Note: I have no issue with people taking photos whilst driving (and I do it myself quite regularly in fact) but trying to claim the moral high ground by grassing him up whilst you are driving without due care and attention busy trying to get some footage, it stinks of hypocrisy to me. I’d wager that he’s paying more attention to the road than you are in that pic.
I was chatting to workshop foreman at my local DAF dealer when my truck was due MOT about this topic (incidentally he takes the trucks to test station) and he told me as long as “frilly curtains” don’t cover/hide any mirrors vosa will turn a blind eye! And as for windscreen pelmets they will let you get away with them as long as sun visors cover them when in use! I’m sure u can all see the logic?

if you remove the stopper on the end of the curtain track, then there will be no need to FORCE them
That sainsburys one is a belter God help anyone in lane 2 if he had to switch lanes quickly because of a hazard in front of him!
It is one of my pet hates to have bloody curtains like that, or flapping around your ear. The best truck I ever drove was an MAN with the drop down cupboard for the curtains, or a Magnum of course.
