Tobyjug is spot on.This is not the place to argue the do’s and dont’s of wether Mike-c takes pics whilst driving. With the exeception of the lap top pic,i think it looks like he POSSIBLY does.
BUT,this is about the sad loss of a family,of possibly six people, and the posts should stay on that thread.
Very very sad to all involved and an avoidable waste of lives.
sad day for the familys off all concerned
condolences to all my heart goes out to them
Would I be right in thinking that in Spain, and possibly other countries, when you are coming to a standstill or slowing down considerably in what would usually be moving traffic that it is the law to turn your hazord lights on? If it’s the case then it’s a ■■■■ good idea.
Our thoughts are with everyone involved in this awful incident.
I just read all the links, and its a shocking tale, and whats worse is that they state 6 people left brum in the car that caught fire, one being a baby apparently.
My condolences to all involved, a whole family wiped out in one go, so tragic
It has just been confirmed that the first of the TWO fatal crashes this morning involved the death of former GB and Widnes winger David Myers.
Regards
Mark
The news at 4pm today has said that there were 6 people in the car heading home to llandudno, the sixth body posibly being a young child or baby.
I think all we can say is our thoughts are with the families involved and hope to god they didn’t suffer.

Highway code116
Hazard warning lights. These may be used when your vehicle is stationary, to warn that it is temporarily obstructing traffic. Never use them as an excuse for dangerous or illegal parking. You MUST NOT use hazard warning lights while driving or being towed unless you are on a motorway or unrestricted dual carriageway and you need to warn drivers behind you of a hazard or obstruction ahead. Only use them for long enough to ensure that your warning has been observed.
Rule exists here as well.

This is going to sound terrible, but owing to the resulting inferno, it is to be hoped that this poor family were hit at a high speed and wouldnt have known much about the fire.
Fire is probably, in my opinion, the very worst way to go.
Condolences to the ones left behind. Very sad indeed. Even more so when children are involved.
From what has been said so far an d by what has been said in the news i would ASSUME this was a rear end collision which hit the back of already queueing traffic.
Did the people carrier brake too late swerve and cause the lorry to swerve and hit it?.
Did the people carrier pani9c and change lanes leaving the lorry driver no braking space which we all know happens too often.
Did the lorry driver not see the standing traffic and just crush the people carrier and it burst in to flames IF SO then why is the lorry driver alive?.
3 lorries were involved apparently if it was a rear ender then why are 3 lorries involved.
There are plenty of questions to be asked and im sure there are plenty of answers why not just leave it to the professionals to tell us what happened?.
Mike should not have been using his laptop EVEN in 2 hours of standing traffic as he is in control of a vehicle and thats not the time to do it BUT I bet if most of us had wireless interent we would have dont the same.
OH and BTW condolences toa family who dont exist any more VERY VERY sad lets hope the authorities can find out what happened and if anyone was to blame wherever they are from is never allowed to see daylight again.
Whatever happened to that driver who was arrested in Melton Mowbray for killing the 6 people in the car news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/leic … 498984.stm He was arrested but later found NOT TO BE USING A LAPTOP AND NOT TO BE FOUND TAKING PHOTOS.
I am the least most religious guy in the country BUT “let he who casts the first stone etc”.
Tobyjug:
Grown men? You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Six people killed, a fellow driver possibly unlikely to see his home again for some years and you lot squabbling like a load of silly teenage girls.SHAME ON YOU ALL.
Thanks for that, it was becoming disrespectful

“I bet you can safely assume every MATRIX Board on the 6 was telling you what was going on . I know the ones on the 5 did”No good if you can’t speak english.
Then I suppose all the flashing signs should have made some sense…
As in danger …
The language of flashing lights on any motorway in any part of the world should mean the same to anyone…
Even the ones in the central reservation posting a reccomended speed.
at the moment the police are carring out investigations im not going to guess how it happened or try to aportion blame to any one
any drive uk of foregein would have been arrested as a matter of course in such an accident
condolancles to the relatives of the families involved
and my thoughts also are with the driver who hit the people carrier he has to live the fact his truck was the one who killed the poeple in car.
The traffic was at a standstill, queuing to exit at J17 due to the motorway being closed J17- J18 because of a previous fatal RTC in which a van driver died.
The HGV ran into the rear of the standing traffic.
Why didn’t he see the matrix and VMS? or did he just ignore them? or if he couldn’t understand them? was he doing something else? I have no idea, but I would hope that the police get to the bottom of it.
From the various news bullitines etc, I believe the occupants of the car were trapped in the vehicle as it immediately burst into flames.
The HATO night crews, and Police crews from the base near there, obviously had a bad night, with 2 fatal RTC’s to deal with.
My thoughts are with the families of the deceased, and the very stressful immediate future they’ll have to deal with.

At last someone talking sense,
I echo the sentiments of most people here, condolences to the families of the deceased. RIP.
the point I was trying to make is here we have a mulitple fatal caused by ■■? so lets try and prevent another one by either shaming or making aware that taking pics, resetting sat nav or whatever you do while driving a killing machine is a NO NO then we might be able to prevent this happening again.
Apologies for going off topic.

FFS get off your high horse, we all understand the point your making but this is not the thread for it, start a new one.
I just watched look north west,or similar, and the Police officer took a lot of time to point out that the driver had been arrested ‘on suspicion’ of causing death by dangerous driving.
So,i think our thoughts should be with all involved, from the familys, emergency workers (and yes that includes HATOs),recovery and all the witnessess and people caught immdeiately behind this terrible incident, and let the investigation take it’s course.
Lifted from another website
from what I have been told by my colleague was that traffic was stationary/ slow moving from previous RTC and family were behind another HGV. Guilty party then has ?failed to see the traffic, rear ended the car forcing it under the front HGV trailer snapping the guard at the rear, jack knifing the front HGV accros the lanes into central res. believe car caught fire on impact.
