Ahh, guess that’s why then! Only travelled it a handful of times, but loved running along the coast in the sunshine.
My crappest is the road to work. Ironically though I come home from work on the very same stretch, but the eastbound home route is actually my favorite!
A34, Chieveley to Oxford. No overtaking lane for a mile right when you’ve caught up with army lorries and tractors crawling up the Ilsley hills, cyclists (!) between Kidlington and M40, and the fact you never know when you’re going to come to a standstill.
A40 Witney-Oxford. Enough said.

If I’m going southeast and end up going a1,a14, m11 now that really is mind numbing!
I can second that as that’s the route i take from Peterborough to head for Croydon. Do you know of any other routes to take? i some times take the A1 to M25 but that’s miles out lol
A69 after Hexham where it turns to single carriage way, it just takes ONE truck (or even CAR) to do 38mph-ish and it adds hours to a journey!
Same goes for the A1 north of Morpeth (Mainly northbound) especially bank holidays, where it splits for the A697. Some days I’ve seen it stop for no reason.
I would prefer to boil my testicles in hot oil, than have to travel the full length of it.
Thankfully as I don’t travel that often, my testicles are safe.
Ken.
Yep.
I’m based up North and fairly regularly deliver down to Bristol. Going down isn’t so bad, but coming back on the homeward stretch is horrendously dull - I find myself willing on the M6 and it just never comes. Then to top it all off getting from J1 - M6 is always a ball ache with traffic.
