Crap food at truck stops/transport cafes

scrotumscratcher:
if your up this way, echlefechan truck stop ,lockerbie truck stop and the new lesmahago truck stop, all good grub

Had a breakfast at Lockerbie last week cost £6. Worst breakfast I have had in a long time. Cheap sausage and other ingredients not much better, also for the price it was quite small.

Shan’t bother stopping there again.

I love cooking for myself, bit of imagination and you can eat for not a lot of money
never having to worry about being caught out of hours, or parking somewhere there is nowhere decent to eat or its pouring down with rain and you don’t want to get soaked

even a sunday roast with apple sauce and gravy

KFC three piece variety meal is my treat!

I’m sure the variety meals have gotten smaller recently, and their salads and hot drinks are vile.

I find the ones in the services seem smaller with tiny little bits of chicken. If I can find one I actually go to Chicken Cottage! I turned my nose up at them till a friend insisted we eat there and it was better than KFC by miles…only problem being I’ve delivered to Chicken Cottage, the less said about that the better…

By like I say, a rare treat! I actually make my own fried chicken at home now when I fancy it. Flour, salt & pepper and away you go

Short bit of advice. As you’ll see good eateries for lorry drovers are scarce and never as good as you can come up with yourself. So try YouTube search for Luke Vernon or look up lorry-driver.com

A bastion for spreading a good image in truck driving that bloke. Lot of time for him. His cooking stuff makes me even want to do the odd night out just to try the camping experience. Not really

Only good places you’ll ever eat as a truck driver are country pubs if you can find parking near one. Transport cafes are all pretty crap.

Why thank you sir!

Someone told me Lymm poplar2000 had a new cafe and was looking good ,well looking good is true ,went in today menu looked ok and very reasonable prices too ,however the portion was absolutely tiny so never again (again ) anyone else been in ?

Doug’s dinner at Penrith…excellent homemade chicken curry and chunky chips

Hollies truckstop (no longer a ■■■■ hole since changing hands) very good food and prices , pudding with meal only 60p extra and free second cup of coffee.

Any of the lad that tramp and cook for themselves use a slow cooker or thought about getting one? I’m tempted as you could prep all your stuff on a weekend and when you get to work Monday morning and you are off on a long run chuck it all in the cooker bang it on and let it cook away whilst you are driving.
Get parked up and have a lovely stew, curry or whatever else you decide ready for you
