Thanks billy they look good the first photo is me on the right looking at the
photo at Montano Lucino during a late night deisel tank party with a guy name
of Paul King we was working for Albert Cook at the time and i think we went to bed about four in the morning sober i might add HAHA. the next one is me posing with my first ever new truck in 1995 somewhere in france Macon i
think not sure 22 years wait to get a new motor but yes it was worth the wait.
the photo with the helicopter was taken at a company called FAGORS in a
place called ESKORIATZA up in the Basque mountains on the way to Irun
i was working for Mckeller trucking and it was during those bad strikes in
Spain 96/97 we could not leave the factory because the roads were all
blockaded and ROVERS in Longbridge Birmingham were flying boxes
of rough castings to biarritz by chopper where our trucks were loading
and taking them to Longbridge to keep the production lines in operation.
from left to right Big Barry, my good self, Geordie Paul. and the infamous
hubbie and wife driving team John and Jane Mcann. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

good photos, and cracking story to go with the last one

forgot kindle took this when we were there…

good pictures crack on and nice story, got any more?

was it mckellers of thurrock you were working for?

yes buddy Mckellers from thurrock did five tours of duty on for Ian
when i first started for him way back his yard was in Beckton round the
back of the old gas works he had four motors then two J REG 240 88`s
two 110 scanias but one was a (cushette) for those who dont know that was
a day cab with a pull down bunk (oh happy days) i did three trips to Italy
in that when i first started god i must of been mad!!!, he then had a few more yards before he came to roost in Purflleet must say the man is a gentleman
not every bodys cup of tea but he did not suffer fools lightly and he ALWAYS
respected his drivers i now class him as a friend and not a old boss
sadly things changed when he got to big and had other people running
things for him but i wont go into that i might upset some mothers HAHA.
:stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

but im having trouble putting the pics on at the moment so my
buddy Dreva (Billy Boy) is doing them for me so watch this space
and lets all crack on to macon :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Wasn’t Bobby Brown on for McKellers in the mid 80’s used to chat on the CB alot to them.

Hi Deisel Dog yes mate sir Bobby was indeed one of the old crew on
Mckellers was a smashing guy a right wind up at times but you wont
hear anybody have a bad word about him. sadly he developed a illness
which left him where he did not really know what was going on and he died
about 15 years ago sadly missed at the reunions believe me.
other drivers you may remember
Arthur Frazier ( big arthur)
Mario
Peter Kemster ( deceased cancer)
Johnny Valentine
Freddie Thompson
Ronnie Evans (deceased heart attack)
Hurry up Harry
Alan Lane
John and Jane
Pat Finlay
John Birchall (woodentop)
Super
Timmy Simons (deceased cancer)
Bob Cairns (my good self)
Welsh Paul
Emmet Cullerton
Alan George ( The long un)
and a host of others whose names are buried deep in
my ever fading memory and i salute them all pioneers the like you
wont ever see again in transport.

Hi Bob, I did a few years on McKellers, 1989-1992 I did the Italian runs mainly with a guy from Merthyr Tydfil, as i got a memory like a siv i don’t supose you remember his name do you? i know he was on there for a long time

I was only young and it took Ian’s wife to persuede him to give me the job saying it was about time they employed some young blood, he was as you say a decent bloke and always treated you well and paid pretty well too

was that Bobby brown the wrestler blonde hair■■?

Hi Bob, that’s a shame about Bobby and the others that are no longer with us, you do look familiar, I was on for Richard Ford out of Birmingham form 82 to 86, so many memories on here great site.

Anybody know wot john and jane are up to these days? last i heard barry was working in the office at mckellars had some top times with the mckellar lads in vivone and barbezieux.

well in answer to your questions Bobby Brown was never a wrestler to
my knowledge if thats a serious question, and if your trying to be funny it did not work.
we had about four drivers on from wales one being what we called welsh Paul
i think his surname was Jones well it sounds about right. haha the welsh lads
normally did the double manning down to Madrid they were all ok for taffs we
all got along fine. i know one died from cancer i think it was Mike and a
lot of lads went down for his funeral i could not go as i was in the states
that was about 1987, but where they all are now i have no idea.
John and Jane still live in stafford and they have a Foden truck pulling
containers mainly out of Felixstowe and i talk to them regular but they are both well and big John still has a blinding sense of humour Steve if you bell me
07880857831 i will talk with John and if its ok with him i will give you his
number and you can say hello to the old boy.
well its late so Marge (Bobby) Proops is going to bed thanks for the interest in my topic im sure we will have plenty more to ratchett about in the future

don’t think he was being funny - there was a bloke did the middle east years ago called Bobby Brown and he was a professional wrestler prior to that, calm down man! :unamused:

Two can play that game :exclamation: There was also a singer by the name of Bobby Brown, married Whitney Houston, that would’ve been taking the yellow body fluid

Bob, JJ72 is correct, there was a Bobby Brown on M/E I think he came out of Dartford way, I worked with a bloke who went out with his daughter
