You forgot the licence one, what would he need to do if he started a new company after taking over the other one and who he would inform and why,
what was the score amber I think and what would you do to get them up to green and why was they on amber?

That was tricky because there was nothing in the case study to say why OCR were on amber, only that Deuce Pallets were. And obviously, OCR had nothing to do with that since they were only in the stage of considering buying them out.

I think this may have been a “scenario setter fail”

I just suggested that OCR may have had a few first-time MOT failures or had infringements detected when stopped by enforcement agencies and should take steps to redress that.

To start an entirely new company, register with the Registrar of Companies for England and Wales (in Cardiff), submitting Memorandum of Association, Application Document, Statement of Capital and Initial Shareholdings, Statement of Proposed Officers, Location of Registered Office, Statement of Compliance and the Fee, giving a brief explanation of what each of these documents is.

Yes that’s it, but was it in the scenario? as he already had a company and if you take over another one there is no need to do it all again
I think these were a little [zb] questions and its there so you do not pass!
How did you get to the figure of 484. per day? Harry

I think the double manning did me. know the hours bout just got them in wrong.
looking at the papers again, yes there was some thing in there about OCR being on amber.

They asked about setting up another company as OCR and Deuce were to be combined under a new company name, thats why it was a totally new application.

The 484.72 figure came from the days Running costs,Standing costs added together + 7.5% profit for the round trip in the Scenario

Yes, you’re right. I must be getting mixed up. I still put the right answer as what to do to improve it though.

Cant believe there was no ADR with the Class 8 chemicals and no Frozen food with refrigerated trailers. I put hours into that. That was a red herring.

Hi mixer driver too,

You truly have my utmost sympathy for this, and it’s not the first time they’ve pulled that stunt either. :smiling_imp:

However, I do remember a time when ADR was barely mentioned in the pre-release scenario, but they went on to spring a few questions on ADR in the actual case study exam.

Me too…

There was a very nasty question in the multiple choice though…

A trailer is exclusively used for the transport of ambient temperature foodstuffs. Its maximum permissible width is.

a. 2.4m
b. 2.55m
c. 2.6.
d. 2.7m

Having spent much of the week having the greater width of refrigerated trailers pointed out, a fair few of us missed the word “ambient” in the question. I did this too and only caught my error when re-checking towards the end.

I tried home study, with a day’s training for the case study on Monday. I reckon I put too mush effort into the case study, and not enough on everything else. I might have scraped the multiple choice, and I hope I did ok on the case study.

I was disappointed there was nothing on ADR. I’d put a lot of work into that, and I was convinced it would come up. STGO was a bit of a surprise, and I struggled with that.

As far as I remember, these were the questions:

1 - Drivers hours. 13 points available. 44t (not STGO), had to calculate single and double manning hours.
2 - O Licensing. 11 points available. GV81 Major change, with Schedule 4
3 - Maintenance. 10 points available. OCRS amber for maintenance, with 6 easy marks for listing workshop essentials.
4 - Costs. 11 points available. Charge out for the 18t rigid on the 9.5 hour multidrop. I got £484.82
5 - Company law. 12 points available. Limited company formation. I misread this question entirely.
6 - STGO. 11 points available. STGO regs - not a good one for me. I hadn’t prepared enough for this.
7 - Safe and legal loading. 12 points available. Shouldn’t have been too tricky.
8 - Environmental vehicles. 10 points available.

You needed to get at least 30 marks out of the first 4 questions, and 15 from the last 4, as I understand it.

hope you all pass guys, I know how you feel waiting for the results and pouring over the questions again and where you went wrong and what you know you got right, then someone has a different answer and you doubt yourself again. :frowning:
Hi S2Sol I passed 4 years ago and did the home study and a days revision class like you so it is possible, I didn’t have much hope of passing as I was sure I got the multiple choice wrong, didn’t even know what Ad Blue was, not from a haulage background. :open_mouth:
At least if you do fail one of the modules you only have to take that one again not the whole thing good luck for Feb

Not this time- because the CPC is changing, no part of the December exam can be carried forward, other than the International module, for which there is a 12 month period of grace.

I had a friend who took this, from what he said and what I’ve read on here I’m glad I did mine in 2002/2003

I am even more pleased I did mine in 1986 :stuck_out_tongue:

The daft thing is that so many things have changed but I am still qualified. I do actually keep up with the legislation, but how many do? I do read EU legislation everyday and have just ordered my 2012 Transport Managers Handbook for the latest changes to O licensing and AETR

ADR lasts for 5 years
DGSA the same, even my digi card runs out after 5. Thank Christ the CPC doesn’t expire

I think I did section 1 correctly (my trainers had anticipated the questions perfectly, even down to the first 25 km being non-motorway), on section 2 I mentioned the GV81 and the Schedule 4 transfer, adding to ask the TC to waive the need for the newspaper ad and remembering to mention the fee, I did fairly well on Section 3 and although I can’t remember the end figure on section 4 I think that was I ended up with, and I remembered to deduct the cost of the tyres from the vehicle.

Section 5 I had really boned up on and I think I remembered everything required and gave an explanation for each, I didn’t do as well on STGO but hope to have got 5 or 6 points, and sections 7 and 8 were quite straightforward and I would hope to have got 8 or so points on each.

Multiple choice seemed to go ok although I know I got a few wrong from chatting afterwards. OCR say the results will be out some time in January.

Well if we all fail, in March 2012 you can take your training manual in with you. Can you believe it…

Another change is that the case study will no longer be published in advance.
