I have booked modul 2 on Oct 2nd and was hoping to book modul 4 as well but this can’t be done without modul 2 pass first
I don’t want to pay over £250 for having modul 4 done so come up with idea to get lgv for a test from somewhere else.
What is the smallest vehicle which can be accepted for modul 4 test?
Any ideas where can I rent cheap lgv for this purpose?
Most of the rental company charge for 24h but I don’t need it for that long.

Vehicles for the module 4 test must conform to the same rules as for those used on the road test - gov.uk/become-lorry-bus-dri … iving-test - The LGV C1 shows the minimum for mod 4
The bigger issue is whether, without any training, you would stand a good chance of passing it in the way that the DSA want you to and in my opinion that would be quite low as you only have to ■■■■ up one bit for that lot to become a fail
I know of two recent cases where people have hired vehicle to save money for Mod 4 and both failed miserably.
And there is no need to spend over £250.

thx for replies.
When I’ve done cpc for PCV I didn’t get any extra training and passed.
What more can I expect on LGV cpc? I’m going to buy module 4 CD with materials necessary to pass.
@Peter Smythe
company which I done class 2 with they charge around £280 for module 4, that include test fee.

Find another company for mod 4
With us, the driver cpc is £290 ALL IN. That includes Mod 2 training, Mod 2 test, Mod 4 training, Mod test, Vehicle for Mod 4. Mod 4 training and test is £225. All figures incl VAT as applicable.
Taking your test at our centre also means you use the same demonstration trolley and equipment for test as you did for training. This isn’t often the case.
As always, buyer beware!

My CPC was only £134 when booked as part of my class 2 training. That was for study material, training, mod 2 test and mod 4 test. It is only £249 anyway as a stand alone course. I suggest you shop around.

Did you do the mod 4 test during your on-road practical training?

Potentially very expensive as you’re paying for Class 2 training and actually getting Mod 4 training which is generally no-where near the same cost.
Surely better to pay for Class 2 and get Class 2 training then pay for Mod 4 training and get that? Or maybe that’s just too honest and straightforward.
The training industry has a long and bewildering history of dressing stuff up to make it look good. I don’t subscribe to this. Much better to know exactly what you’re paying for and be treated like an adult except a daft kid who can be easily fooled.
There will always be trainers who don’t value their services very highly and will charge accordingly. And then there are others that are apparently a lot more expensive. I am certainly, unashamedly, in the second group. To deliver top quality training costs a great deal more than just scraping by. Accordingly, the fees will be higher. There is a large proportion of candidates happy to pay extra to get extra. Anyone wanting cheap shouldn’t be phoning me. Anyone wanting very good might like to give us a call.

There are many schools that do the mod 4 training and test during the LGV course but that usually means adding a day to the course to fit it in however I have heard of a few courses that include the mod 4 training and test with the mod 4 training given as a freebe at the end of the day - I remember one being an extra half hour or so each day for 3 days with the mod 4 test on a day 4 - the test took less than 45 mins out of the training day and that day was also extended to compensate
That was on a 5 day C course doing 2 to 1 training - not sure if both did mod 4 or not
Just shows that it can be integrated into a 5 day course without too much disruption
I would image that the vehicle checks at the start also doubled up for some of the mod 4 training ?
We charge £249 for the entire Initial CPC package if booked alone and £134 if booked as part of a LGV package. We would not dream of taking the 2 hours Mod4 training out of the driver training time. It is either done at 4pm or on a weekend when the vehicle is not training.
It is unfair to the students to not mention the need for CPC then try to add it on afterwards.
No my mod 4 training is separate to my class 2 training but was given at a discounted rate when booking together
hello guys! course beginning Tuesday CPC. there is the possibility of suspending? if I fail, I have to pay again? I’m not very informed on the course consisting … if you can help me I would be very grateful. Cheers!

If you are referring to the initial driver cpc then yes you will have the cost all over again if you fail it
If you fail mod 4 you will not have to resit mod 2
which are the MODS?? the only thing I know is that I will go 5 times a class, every Tuesday of the week, nothing more.
Sounds like your’e talking about Periodic Training for cpc. This is 35 hours, normally in blocks of 7 hours, often classroom based with no test or exam (unfortunately). No pass or fail.
You will need this if you held any category of LGV (including C1) before Sept 2009 or if you have subsequently passed Mod 2 and 4 which you clearly haven’t.
It’s frightening that drivers haven’t got a clue what they’re meant to be doing!
Pete
J.Botella did you have a LGV C1 or C before 10/9/2009 ?
can be integrated into a 5 day course without too much disruption
This is exactly the sort of thing I am totally against! So it’s ok to have cheap training as there wont be “too much disruption”. Why, oh why, does anyone need to consider the slightest disruption? How dare trainers insult the intelligence of their customers by offering “without too much disruption” Sorry, but it just wouldn’t do for me. There is one way to do the job - properly. Properly costs money. Therefore, if you want a proper job, expect to pay just a little more for it. Simple.

I’m Spanish, I have the permission C in 2010, I’ve been in England four months working in a restaurant and I think I’m wasting time. I’ve seen a lot of demand for drivers on the street and I decided to start looking for some driver. I report and I think first of all need the CPC, so I’m asking for information. thank you very much

I think you are saying that you passed LGV C in 2010 and that is the first LGV category on your licence
If that is correct then did you take and pass initial LGV driver CPC modules 2 and 4?
If you did not then you need to pass those two initial modules before you can drive LGVs commercially and go onto the periodic driver cpc system
I am certain that all of the EU has the same rules on this
