Coming down the m61 this morning about 9am to join the m60. It’s rammed nose to nose. Lane one is a turn off and lane two and three join the m60. Lane one is empty and cars come flying down then cut in at the last minute. I must of seen 20 plus doing it. So here I am in my big shiney truck thinking balls to this and once I get to the cut off point look in my mirrors to see a car come flying down wanting to cut in. I then straddle the hard shoulder making the car stop. Me happy as Larry looks in my mirrors and he’s still trying to jump in. So feather over I go to stop him. Next thing he switches on his blues n twos. I’m like sugar and let him past. He drives next to me on my near side looks at me. I’m not moving as I’m stuck in traffic and if I’m honest feeling a lump in my pants. He then drives off shanking his head.
Thing is 1. If he was going to an emergency why wasn’t his blues n twos on from the start or 2. Why does he feel he can jump in. As a cop he should set a good example. If others see cops doing it they do to. I’m all for one to bomb in a line if there is loads of room but this was nose to nose and always is. Plus he was driving down the hard shoulder and undertaking.
I think they can do anything they want because who’s going to stop them, can remember a few years back they had a do on from some chief who was retiring and about 30 police cars turned up and all parked on double yellows when there was a car park across the road.

One rule for them one for us
Thing is mate there was as you say 20 cars ‘cutting in’ , annoying maybe I know, but it was the job of the guy in the car you blocked off to decide if they were doing anything wrong, not yours by blocking the hard shoulder ILLEGALLY, therefore stopping Emergency services getting through (as it turned out just as you did)
You were lucky you got away with a dirty look off the copper, he obviously WAS ‘queue jumping’ for a good reason, otherwise he would have had the time to stop and nick you.
They only use unmarked cars to catch you out breaking the law…
You’re gonna have to put up with that for the rest of your driving career (or until it’s all driverless).
Just get used to it, you’re never going to be able to stop them doing it. Even if you met one at a service area later on, had a chat with him and convinced him he was pushing in, it’ll still happen again the next day with 1000s of other car drivers across the UK.
Sit back in your seat and turn the radio up.
I agree with Rog, you were lucky not to get a ticket.
Yep. Could have been a £100 3 points lesson unless they decided that you were driving without due care and consideration and then it could have been 6 points or they could have done you for both and it been 9 points.
Need to learn to chill out a bit or you’ll end up like that twunt Trucker Jay on youtube.
Use of emergency equipment (lights and sirens) is entirely at driver discretion - so long as what he is doing can be justified, is proportionate, and for a policing purpose, lights etc do not always have to be used. Generally this ‘silent’ approach is used to prevent alerting offenders of the police approach. If it’s a burglary, accomplices could be set up as look outs. Hence no lights.
I’d imagine they were trying to covertly follow a car and may have been trying to keep up with it.
They must have been on a task to do something or you would have 100% been stopped (you may still get something in the post or a knock on the door soon)
When will drivers understand it’s not our job to police the roads? We see lots of frustrating things every day but need to let it go. Next time you could end up meeting a likeminded driver to the one in the coop road rage video. All good claiming the moral high ground from a hospital bed.

CHEERRRRIIIIIIISTTTTTTTTTTT…im agreeing with conor…wheres me medication.
nothing worse that a road commander armchair warrior holding up the traffic…id have loved to have been behind you to watch you getting 6 points and the ensuing .(your a professional you should know better sermon…)
the cars flying up and cutting in are doing so becase they have the ability to do so…your stuck in a truck,so you cant…■■■■ it up,let them get on with it,or go and do it yourself.
now dont be posting anymore fuddlyduddly pish here about similar antics, otherwise you will have me and my best mate conor onto you like a ton of bricks…theres no room for fannies on trucknet.( well theres no more room as its all full up at the moment) form an orderly queue for the dead mans shoes…
They must have been on a “Job” or they would have nicked you, no doubt about that, very lucky chap indeed. The same goes for the fella’s who think they are justified in setting up their own rolling road block down to a ‘merge/turn’ part of dual carriageway. Quite a few people have been caught out on the A629 from Ainley Top to Elland, West Yorks; for doing this exact thing.
i always look for a wifey as they never know whether to be in the wrong or right,by the time the thought proccess kicks in,then your in anyway…never fails.
That was a half arsed job with wimping out at the end, should have done the job properly and stuffed him into the armco…just cant get real truck drivers anymore…

Agree completely, but I’m left wondering, why didn’t plod stick his blue lights, stop the other cars queue jumping and dish out £100 fines like Christmas cards? That’s what would ■■■■ me off.

Because as I said earlier, they may have been tasked with another priority that didn’t warrant a full blues/twos attendance but needed to get there on the hurry up. Or they were tailing another car based on or gathering intelligence about it.
