Copper warned me, but is it true?

i was stopped a little on a double yellow . a copper came over and warned me that if somebody crashed into me that insurance would be invalid due to where i had parked
anybody know if its true that if you arent 100% legally parked you arent insured?

I must be uninsured most of the day then.

I did just write a lengthy reply but just shortened it to this

The copper is talking bollox.

Would’nt surprise me if it was true insurance companies will try anything to avoid paying out. Eddie.

anyone hits a stationary vehicle irrelevant of where you are parked they are in the wrong

Was the Copper on a Horse and did this voice come out of its ■■■■?

it got me thinking that if what he said was true , i would likely get sued and maybe lose everything if somebody did hit me .
he looked to be a long serving genuine type and was driving a Discovery/range rover

Considering it is legal to park on double yellows If you are unloading, then surely he is talking arse.

Load of ■■■■■■■■.

You can still be convicted of causing death by careless driving even if you’re not anywhere near the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Do not feed the troll

Wouldn’t like to say about yellow lines, but have heard it’s true on the London red route. ie if someone walks out in front of your vehicle and gets hit by traffic you can be liable.
We are always told to move off red route when time restriction applies if delivery finished or not.

The copper was talking rubbish, their understanding of Insurance is very limited and often wrong.

If the copper was correct he could have charged you with no insurance for being parked on a double yellow line.

Incidently there is a court case from decades ago that sets a precedent which involved a badly parked truck which was struck by a car, the truck insurer lost the case but only due to the law requiring trucks requiring side lights in certain situations. This court case was very specific and was lost solely due to the vehicle not having it’s lights on

The more you deal with the police the more you realise just how little they know about the law, or anything come to think.

He’s talking ■■■■■■■■.

On new years eve, I had parked my car on double yellow lines and some plonker hit the front wing of my car, and it got fixed by his insurance, no questions asked.
