Containers

Who are thre best container firms to work for money conditions ect ect imm from the kent area?

Conditions, none of them, all the same.

Money, probably Maritime, but can’t say for sure down your neck of the woods. Roadways pay a touch better in Manchester, but with no guarenteed minimum wage / hours.

Don’t know if Elite still has a depot at Thamesport, Isle of Grain…not too shabby to work for.

Maritime certainly do have a depot there, but they will work you to within a minute of your legal hours every week!

Not sure about Goldstar?

Been looking into containerlift any thoughts?

Not sure, never worked for them, but I think you need HIAB?? They drop the containers off at customers yards and pick them back up when done. Not typical container work.

I don’t think all of their drivers needed a hiab license, some run in the conventional way. Bigmac on here used to work for them, might be worth dropping him a pm?

He never spoke too highly of them with regard to wages and left to become a taxi driver so read into that what you want

Elite had an office at Thamesport, not a Depot, they may have had a parking arrangement somewhere near by

As for containerlift, do a search on here, they drastically cut the wages and increased the minimum hours they had to work at Southampton depot, don’t know if it applied to all depots though

Containerlift do some ADR & Radioactive work ( done my ADR course with a woman who worked for them )

You dont need a Hiab according to her she was featured in T&D few years back think it was Julie Thomas

They dont, more often than not they will actually hold you back to save on nights out and overtime, especially now that times are very quiet on the container front,i think it might be a different story on the curtainsiders for them as they seem to be undercutting everyone else and managing to get mountains of work.
I worked for them for a few years and i’m still in contact with a lot of people who still work for them, nights out are at a premium at certain depots and so is the overtime…everything legal though, good kit,but you get held back by red tape and over zealous planners who make their Christmas bonus out of cutting your nights out and overtime. …I used to love it on there, but they have got bigger and bigger, more corporate, more and more rules and more rules and much less enjoyable to work for.

All the Elite trucks from Thamesport now work from the yellow peril yard in Landor st. Brum. Most of them seem to be out all week.

Trev, was that you arriving at 04:15 this morning, getting wet on the bike?

Yeh, I did see you at the last moment. Careful with that horn, you nearly woke up the security guard
