i once got an indicated 177 mph out of a gsxr 1000…beat that :grimacing:

I maxxed out a 911 Carrera on the M3, 186mph according to the speedo and the spec sheets, wasn’t a happy occaision though, saw a jam sandwich on the hard shoulder so started slowing down very quickly, unfortunately I never saw the unmarked Vauxhall Senator that I passed at 139.7mph until he lit me up with the blue lights in his grille  Big fine and a ban

Actual 171mph - showing over the 190mph on the clock - on an RF900 with very minor mods, pulled by plod. Not proud of it, will never do it again

I’m the same, although it took a while after I got nicked, now I very rarely exceed the speed limit, when I do it’s only keeping up with the traffic flow and usually only 5mph or so over the limit. I don’t get excited by it anymore, well I suppose the thrill is still there, but I’m far more aware of the consequences and of my own limitations now, in short, I’m getting old…■■■■■■■■

I still get the thrill, but on tracks now. I do still exceed the speed limit in my car or on my bike, but not in the truck even when paid by the day, weird.

The copper that pulled me was very good, “nearly 3 miles per minute” brought it home, along with an accurate estimate of how far I’d go if I came off, which was several hundred yards - think of the 3 - 2 - 1 countdown to a junction, and then imagine doing it bouncing and sliding …

I’ve been knocked off a bike at 120 ish mph and came to a very abrupt stop using armco uprights, painfull but I think it was better than going down the road for a while longer since I’m still here to talk about it.

171 out of a rf900…are you sure :open_mouth:

Yep

And it was over 10yrs old too, only did about 160 - 165 brand new… It had been dyno-jetted and set up on a machine with a genuine Suzuki race pipe, a few other little mods (gsxr cams, k+n filter, iridium plugs) and the gearing had been altered - this was done for economy as I did a hell of a lot of riding due to it being my only vehicle, but also equalled a higher top end but slower acceleration - although this was equaled out by the mods.

what`s a genuine suzuki race pipe

No idea, it’s an exhaust that says suzuki on it but isn’t standard and was matched to the dyno tuning and cams. Was on it when I got it and still on it when I sold it :sunglasses:

supose it could have come from a race team that was using gsxrs…rf 900 engine was derived from the gsxr(as are many more)so it`d probably bolt straight on :bulb:

yoshimura used to do all the pipework for suzukis race bikes…that`s why their products worked well straight off the shelf

I can only go on what you say, i never seen it. But if the car has not got past the lorry then what are you expecting the lorry to do, brake for someone behind/alongside him? If thats the case then the car driver braking should see him able to get in behind the lorry? Its got to be safer than a lorry braking and or atlering his course on a slip road to let an approaching from behind motorist in? These avoidance actions have been responsible for many lorries turning over, where do you draw the line? How can a lorry be to blame for a driver that has left it to late to safely turn off? Let the car driver think of the children, they’re his responsability. If the lorry would of veered off or braked hard and had a mishap the car driver would of carried on.
I’m one of the ones who’d say “mind your own business” and also of the school of thought that if you ■■■■ up whilst driving then its your own fault not anyone elses, maybe i’m old fashioned. And BTW, if the car driver is driving on the hard shoulder then he has plainly missed his turn, he’s not just ‘late’, he’s missed it. Won;t somebody think of the HATO’s and emergency services on the hard shoulder? The car driver should really be banned for pulling a stunt like that. The sooner we get longer trailers it’ll make stuff like this much more fun for the Mr.Magoo drivers.

Exactly as I saw it.

still no video yet mr strongbow-be honest it didnt really happen did it?

Post it up to youtube and give us a linky…

Or are you a bull ■■■■ ter?

It’s OK Harry! You lost your bottle driving containers about that’s fair enough! But! There is no reason whatsoever for any modern car to be tangling with HGVs!! :unamused:

Didn’t lose bottle -lost interest.Pointless deadlines, low value loads =Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!Couldn’t stay awake.

Well judging by some of the comments by the mentally retarded amongst this forum membership…are those who are defending this idiot box jockey for real? :open_mouth:
If so… those who are, should be taken off the road for the safety of all others…and the sooner the better.

Oh! Hold on…see below …thank ■■■■!..the welcome voice of reason.

> We are supposed to be professionals, which should mean we know what we are doing, and as such should make allowances for ignorance incompetence and downright rudeness by all other amateur road users, its part of our job.
>
> The bloke in the car could be a sales bod, doctor, scientist or drug dealer, whatever he does for a living its highly unlikely he is a professional driver, we wouldn’t expect to be able to do his job as well as him, so why do some expect car drivers to be as good as pros.

Just post the video so we can make up our own minds FFS :imp: :imp: :imp:
