Can anyone recommend me a map, which will have all my drops on, for the next couple of years whilst working on the agency. Just so I can leave my navigation aid at home, and feel like a real proper trucker.

A point very well made.

I use a prat nav for finding my way round town once I’ve navigated the arterial routes using my head.

Before pratnavs, drivers would have shelves of local maps for each town.

There will always be the perfect drivers on here that can do it without a pratnav. Even Stobart drivers use them. (I saw it on the Ch5 documentary) lol.

However waiting or a postman or policeman etc to come by so you can ask directions can be time consuming and sometimes it is much easier to just stick the last couple of miles into your pratnav.

I T’s great help if you directions from a local with knowledge of the area, although not always easy to find depending on what time you are arriveling at your destination, particularly if it’s late into the evening or in the night.

I feel sorry for all you guys having so many problems with your sat navs, mine (regularly updated TomTom Truck 5150) works perfectly.

And in some cases it works better than my Philips Truck Map. For instance, the A685 between Tebay and the A66. 14’6 height restriction and an 18t weight restriction. The map has the height but not the weight restriction. Sat Nav will not send me down it but if in an artic with a single decker on you’d assume you’d be safe. You’d be wrong, like the map is wrong.
