Compulsory masks

Daughter works on a COVID ward & she said the majority are unvaccinated, which is strange as they’ve refused to have jabs / wear masks but they don’t refuse medical care ( though she did say some are not well enough to refuse / accept medical care )
My opinion is they shouldn’t be treated , they’ve made there beds so should lie in them, only vaccinated / mask wearers should be treated , I assume the noisy ones on here would not take up bed space , they’d refuse medical care / hospital treatment & take there own chances , assuming they were well enough to do so
My daughters view is she wants to help everyone , good job she’s the nurse not me

I reckon he was caught unawares and panicked a bit when he was questioned with the words…‘‘Control Experiment’’…he didn’t see that one coming evidently.

Nice to see at least one Tory MP switched on btw.

The cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh have lower infection rates than Cambridgeshire, Warwickshire, and much less than London and the area all around it.

And don`t we know that unfit people are more susceptible to infection?
How does Scotland compare for drug and alcohol abuse, and obesity with the English Shires? Any ideas?

No doubt the usual crew on here will have some links in their 'covid portfolio ’ :unamused:  that will dig some dirt on him and instantly write him off as some kind of militant non conformist nut job.

Franglais has turned me into another link searching fanatic in my spare time…, please somebody tell me when I get to the manic stage.ffs

Fraser Nelson is a journalist for the Telegraph, he was on LBC with Nick Ferrari this morning. Sage are being told to forecast only the worst case scenario’s. I wonder why■■?

I havent heard the interview, and dont know how accurate Fraser Nelson is on his interpretation nor how accurate Nick Ferrari is.

You wonder why■■?
A man is exiting an aeroplane at 10,000ft
Should he hope for the best outcome of survival without a parachute?
I think the precautionary approach of considering the worst outcome, and having a parachute is better.

The best outcome takes under half a second to model…surely even an inumerate ■■■■■■■ idiot can do that:
No?

Nothing Bad Happens!

We have SAGE to explore possible outcomes.
We have politicians to decide on the balance between risks and costs.
If the tossers in charge need experts to explain “no effect” to them, then they are even more stupid than I suspected.

Franglais:

my bro [who lives in France] came over here tother month when all the restrictions were in place, got his special vaccine certificate and no end of paperwork with him but was just waved thru at customs didnt even get it out his pocket

Not much need for UK officials to do that. The plane/train/ferry company would have checked all of that before letting him board.
They could cop a fine and have to repatriate him if they bring in an illegal entry.
They are pretty strict about all of this stuff.

My vaccine cert had to be entered (pdf) when buying a flight. Spain didn’t check it when at the airport but it was checked again at passport control in France.

Pesky unvaccinated.
Shame there are over 20 million of us, guess the population has grown somewhat.
[/quote]
What? UK population 67million. 51million vaccinated (first dose at least). So, 15m not vaccinated?
coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/vaccinations
Approx 20% of the population are under 16yrs old…

So, what is the origin of that screen shot please?
The .gov figures used on the link I gave above can be traced through to give methodologies used to collect data.
Can we have the same for this source please?
.
From memory David Spiegelhalter addressed the ways NHS and ONS collect vaccine data on “More Or Less”. I`ll have look for that later.

About the only certain thing I can conclude from this thread is nobody is ever going to agree.
I still suspect Franglais is mostly correct with what he says however the next month or two will
answer a lot of questions to all concerned.

I also suspect most of the antivax and antimask (apart from RR. ) are younger generations. I wonder how they would feel if they were in their 70’s or 80’s?

Let’s just hope this omicron is kind to humans vaccinated or unvaccinated.

That title appears on the link, but nowhere else I can see?

If I want advice on gemstones, incense, homeopathy, and vibrational therapies, I might go ask her opinion.

Lots of rhetorical flourish but short on substance. Dispense with liberty at need I think the phrase was…

Since he brought WW2 into it…a lot of liberties were suspended at need back then.

I have to say I’m not convinced of the further need for lockdown yet. If it happens without further covid developments I certainly oppose it .

Do I think there’s a deliberate plot to use this pandemic as an excuse to curtail liberties for some sinister purpose? No
