On the subject of COVID I find the NHS believeable…And all of Medical staff on the front line talking of it.
I dont care whether or not you find *me* believable or not. (sorry, mate) I *do care* that you and others take it *seriously* enough to take simple painless measures to keep *others a little bit safer*. . I don
t much care what a TV historian thinks about pandemics.
Maybe he is sincere and honest, maybe he is articulate, but he and the other two have nothing except words to offer.
dozy:
It’s fairly obvious rob is bothered about it ( COVID) as he keeps going on about it , quoting articles etc , if as he claims it’s all a conspiracy then he’d not be bothered
My own opinion is if you met him in the street he’d be the one wearing 2 masks with a tube of anti bacterial hand cream in his hand
Like a lot of them they don’t like to admit they wear a mask as it doesn’t fit with the macho lorry driving image a lot like to portray ,
I base my observations on being told I need to grow a back bone / stop being a tear ■■■ (you assume rob takes no [zb] ) , then he’s moaning he’s the last driver out there on a Saturday night , stuck in some accident on the m5 on a Sunday
Though he’s far from the only one on here , I’ve just been about to long to be taken in by it !!
Got to pick you up on this doze…but Christ only knows why
I’ve never said I was not ‘bothered’ about it, I’ve never said it was all a conspiracy, on the contrary in fact on both counts,.and if you hadn’t fell asleep at first page as you said in your previous post you would have understood that so it makes your comments irrelevant.
As for my previous comments on backbone and tear arsing towards you in the past, I did have a point tbf after reading your accounts on how you were being ■■■■ ed about.
I’ve always tried to come across to you on this as being constructive to you rather than take the ■■■■ as others do …unless you’ve annoyed me at some time that is, but you still come back at me all the time as if I am having a pop at you, but not a prob mate, not fussed, I can live with it.
As for Saturdays out…How many more times man, …
Saturdays are part of my 4 on 3 off shift pattern ,. EVERY WEEK,
…and I get overtime rate for them in to the bargain,.so the longer day on a Saturday the more money I make, although 9 times out of 10 I’m back in the house before 3pm watching Sky football at home, or in the pub.
As for running into Sundays,…yeh sure but in the 6 or so years I have done this shift pattern I can count on one hand (and stil have fingers left) how many times I’ve ran in on a Sunday, due to unforseens, so there you go eh?..
Always used the hand cream,.as I believe the Covid thing to be true…as I’ve always said despite your accusation.
As for masks…never wore one of those stupid ■■■■ surgical things, but have wore a face covering which has been well documented on these threads.
Still think it’s a waste of time, but there you go again .
Take no ■■■■?..that’s fair assumption I try not to.
Hope that clarifies my position on all this.
Job sorted.

For some basic stuff about science and medicine read Ben Goldacre “Bad Science”.
Very accessible read based based around struck off doctor Andrew Wakefield and the MMR/autism rubbish he was spouting.
.
Goldacre has written about “Big Pharma” too. Slightly more in depth about how drug trials are run, and how they should be run. And how companies operate in real life.
.
Both written pre covid but many principles of data in medicine are covered.
.
The cases of Sally Clark and Lucia de Berk are covered. Both jailed because numbers were misunderstood.
(Not because “stats can prove anything”, but because bad or misunderstood stats tell lies just like words tell lies or are misunderstood).

I’ve just put it at the top of my Christmas present list, cheers for that, I could have missed it.

Well it is intended for those with an open mind…
And bits of it are quite funny, for a serious subject.
I’m sure Goldacre has for a TED Talk. I’ll have a look.
15 minutes.
Listen only when you’re driving if you want.

Pre covid days.
Seriously mate.
You see,… this is why you are like what you are, …fill your head with all this stuff and it becomes an obsession.
I’ll just coin a new phrase here to describe it…
‘‘Self Brainwash’’.
The TED talks are interesting and well worth watching.

So, what part of the TED Talk would have brain-washed me?
It’s just dawned on me why you immediately wrote off my link.
A bit of self realisation maybe that what (and who) the type of people they referred to, not only illustrated you but personified you.
Not having a go at you over all this mate btw, (well not TOO much anyway ) just trying to point out how you come across on here to others over all this crap.
Obvious retort would be to point out how I come across on here, but I think everything has been said already.
#couldntgiveaone.

I listen to R.4X some weekends and they sometimes have TED talks there. They go for the personal story types rather than some more techie subjects, not always what I`d go and look for for, but often really good.
This guy talks for just 5 mins. He was a passenger on the plane that landed in the Hudson River.

Realise you can change the title.

I played that vid straight through once, then a couple more times in sections thinking about what was being said, what was going going on. I looked at the backgrounds of those involved. I then wrote 20 or so lines explaining what I saw, and what I thought, with my reasoning…immediately wrote it off? No.
I played it over to see what Id missed, I was looking for the proof, or theory, or idea, of what I was missing. I
ve asked you what I was missing.
So, again you throw lines out backed up by nothing.
Ive asked time and again why/how you think the pandemic is being exaggerated. All I
ve seen so far is people saying it is being exaggerated, no facts, no figures. Nothing to back that view up.
Given there are health professionals all over the world saying there is a major problem why don`t you get it?

Ive done it on the
Where Am I threads. As an OP you can go back and put "Solved", or wha
eva`s, in the title.
Franglais:
Given there are health professionals all over the world saying there is a major problem why don`t you get it?
But there are health professionals all over the world that don’t agree.
SO…that’s health professional v health professional.
Where does that leave me?
Tell you where…being seen to do the right thing, but otherwise not giving a ■■■■.

You don`t give a ****. Up to you.
No rule says you have to behave like a responsible citizen of a country is there?
So, (for those who want to be members of British society) where health professionals disagree, look at the evidence they are using. Look at exactly what they are saying.
If I hear a Dr practicing in a hospital now, looking at current data and dealing with reality on a day to day basis, I think they will be more credible than someone who retired 10 or 20 years ago, or who makes money from selling advertising on video channels.
If the person saying it is some sort of hoax has a history of denying AIDs, Autism, vaccines, or whatever, why believe them this time?
Franglais, frankly i’m bored of the whole debate, i really don’t care what you or anyone else does from now on, i’m not masking and nor is my wife or daughter the only way they’ll get a medical experiment into our bodies is when we’ve joined austria and soon germany and gone full 1930’s central europe once again and our version of the ss, increasingly the old bill seem up for this across the world, throw us onto the cattle cars.
I wish you and others like you, all of us in fact, all the best for the future whatever it may bring, as i’ve said from the beginning of this farce i hope and pray i’m proved wrong in what i think this was all about from the start.
One thing though, you keep making insinuations about retired medical experts or even current ones who haven’t yet been sacked for wrong think, making videos on certain platforms, and if they happen to make the price of a meal out (some are not monetized at all) that somehow taints their views.
Do you imagine for one moment that those medical practioners and approved scientists going along with the ever shifting narrative(just as govts in much of the western world are) are doing so from a position of worrying about being able to afford next month’s electric bill?
Those who are having to put videos and blog type communications out on platforms you might disaprove of are doing so because they are being censored by the mainstream and big tech on approved channels, the same big tech who have made untold £billions over the last 20 months.
