Compulsory masks

25-30000 people (mainly children) die from starvation or as a consequence of it every single day of the year! Covid isn’t going to go away ever. If as much propaganda and money was thrown at food poverty which is eminently fixable it would go away. imagine what a world we’d have.

Famine is a very serious problem worldwide and more effort and money would help lessen it.
Absolutely.

Covid isn`t going away any time soon.
Very true.

robroy:
I know I’ve been taking the ■■■■, but ffs…c’mon 27 pages?
I’ll try and sum it up.
Wear your masks or don’t who tf really CARES other than the unhealthy, the busy body and the paranoid.

So now we HAVE to by law :open_mouth:
Me?
Sure I’ll reluctantly wear it not because I suffer from covid paranoia like some on here, not because I’m a serial conformist, (again like some on here) but mainly for the reason of it would grieve me giving these sad assed [zb] ‘covid marshalls’ on doors of shops etc the chance to make their sad uneventful day by telling me to put it on. :imp:

I know this stuff is kinda serious in many ways, but why are some if you letting this crap pre occupy so much of your time, by actually trawling the internet to gain info to make your point, the more info you gather the more paranoid you all get.

Life sends us challenges, that is what life is all about… this is just another of these challenges, try and deal with it as you will, but not as far as being on the border of locking yourselves up in a bunker wearing a tin foil suit.

My way?
I don’t want to catch it obviously, but I’m trying my best just to ‘‘get on with it’’ and get on with my life alongside it.
If I catch it…tough [zb], again that’s life, hopefully I will be like most guys I know who have had it,.and feel like crap for about 10 days,.and move on.
But if I’m one of the unlucky ones,.so be it, no regrets, as Frank says …‘‘I did it my way’’.

So ffs get on with your lives (and/or actually get a life) and shut the [zb] up about all this. :unamused:
Leave the worrying, the research and the action to the EXPERTS.

Yes 27 pages… and you still dont get it do you? If people dont believe rules and laws are sensible they will not obey them much…sound familiar?

Tell a five year old kid “Do not play with matches”. Will that stop them?
Convince them it is dangerous (it is by the way) they may stop playing with matches.

If you get ill or die because of your actions? One thing.
If others get ill or die because of your actions? Another thing. Never mind, Rob knows a Sinatra song and got to wear a cool looking mask (when forced to) instead of one that works.

robroy:
Leave the worrying, the research and the action to the EXPERTS.

Research for experts. Agreed. Not facebook meme groups or youtubers.

Action is for everyone. No need to be a screaming drama queen and

robroy:
being on the border of locking yourselves up in a bunker wearing a tin foil suit.

is right. Just a wee bit effort to wear a mask and keep a couple of feet distance in a queue.
Not too hard for old ladies to do, so why is it a problem for some lorry drivers?

Worrying? Well I have concern for those who may be less healthy than myself. I am worried by those who are too stupid or too selfish to take simple measures to help others.
I am not at all worried however about whether my mask “looks cool”, or whether or not I my actions “conform” with any particular group.

Franglais mate., on the contrary, I DO get it.
Whatever I say it will not change your fascination, pre.occupation and shear obsession with all this.
Your 5 year old kid analogy does not stand up, we are all adults, so despite your patronising implication,.mist of us are capable of sorting the truth from what they want us to believe.
There are as many theories that refute the relavance of masks., than what they are telling us they are essential, like I say…THEORIES. :bulb: .
As for proof you can prove anything by massaging stats, including those of deaths WITH Covid with those BECAUSE of Covid.
The irony of YOU calling someone a screaming drama queen on all this, has obviously gone over your head btw.
If you want all this to pre occupy your time rather than just get on with it, crack on, I’ll just carry on with the latter.

Btw your little jibes at my attempt at humour has been noted.
You say you have me worked out, evidently not., because when I know I have got under somebody’s skin slightly,.it just makes me worse in the art of ■■■■■■■■■ .

I am fascinated with this subject.
I am interested in covid and in people`s response to it.
Fascinating…Absolutely.

Look at this old chestnut: “including those of deaths WITH Covid with those BECAUSE of Covid.”
For years the yearly mortality rate in the UK has been falling.
That is for each 1,000 people, fewer die each year. (it is a rate, independent of total population)
Only a slight drop a clear trend as we live longer.
Then in 2020 it goes up.
There are far fewer vehicles driving, fewer road and industrial accidents, and the death rate increases more than it has before, about 10% more.
2020 fewer accidents etc, yet death rate increases…? Do you really need to quibble about with/of Covid and terminology?
What else could that upswing be caused by?

If 100 people smoke 50 cigarettes a day and die average age 50?
If 100 people don`t smoke and live to average age 70?
All else being the same, do you need to cut them open to see there is something bad about smoking ciggies?

People use stats to tell lies, exactly as people use words to tell lies.
Using false words proves nothing.
Using false stats proves nothing.
Stats and words are equally neutral. The people using them can be good or bad, and use them to tell truth or lies.
We need to understand both to know who is lying or not.

It’s reached 28 pages because it’s on the internet i.e, fantasy land, if this coversation was taking place in a pub it would last for 5 minutes before all sides agreed to disagree and talk about something more interesting, The internet allows people to think that what they say carries some weight when in reality they know that no one listens to them, however being the internet they cannot be told to STFU so they continue arguing for the sake of arguing even though everyone knows their position on the point being discussed.
As for masks do they work? Don’t they work? You can find research to back up your point of view whichever side of the arguement you’re on if you’ve nothing better to do with your time.
Northern Ireland currently has a higher infection rate than England yet has consistantly had stricter rules on masks. What can the great TN scientists conclude from this?

In some ways you’re right…one’s fellow workers sometimes leave a bit to be desired, Rob.

But I’d had enough of policing and management and thought I’d enjoy driving.

It was either that or teaching - and I didn’t fancy the paperwork.

Got to admit although I’ve been involved in trucking most of my life, some of my fellow drivers do make me take a step back in amazement, but for all the wrong reasons.

Coppers?..Never actually ‘worked’ with them, (but you know thst  ) I’ve had a few dealings in the past, although nothing major.

Tbf the coppers in the town I used to live in during my time as an operator in the 80s, were spot on, cracking lads.
Many a time they would give me and my Mrs.and/or mates a lift up to my place from a pub or club 3 mile away in the back of the van, (the look on the babysitters face was a picture  ) after a night out , …they would come in and have a coffee on arrival, in fact one of them came to lift me for some paltry offence one day, his words were ‘‘Sorry Rob, I’ve came to arrest you, get the kettle on and we’ll try and sort something’’
The first mile and a half to the town was on a WW2 airfield, I used to take the car to the camp gates,.and walk into town, later walk back and pick the car up to drive up the airfield after a few pints, the local coppers knew this…II would not dare do that today coppers being as they are.
I kid you not all of those examples are genuine, but those guys are long retired, coppers nowadays are a different breed, little or no discretion, easy options,.selective policing etc…etc yawn yawn…but we’ve been here before eh?
